My brother at an early age had his toe reattached from an accident.Be careful he didn't follow the doctors instructions and lost his toe.Good Luck Ron

umm...... your supposed to use a stick!! get well soon!

It is bad when this happens and we think how easy it would have been to prevent this, but like many we figure it is OK to try something quick and we see so many with loss finger, hands and arms from these power tools we have. I do the same things at time and been so lucky, but do have one finger that while checking a guys fan belt he decided to turn the engine over and my finger was wrapped around his alt pulley and cut about have way though. I feel lucky I didn't lose it and I am sure you feel lucky too as you could have loss several fingers or more.
Take it easy and speedy recovery as spring is on its way and the silver and gold is waiting for us.

Get better soon, buddy. The worst I have done is smashed a finger and lost a nail, and that was painful.

That sucks. I hope it all turns out well and you heal fast.

I thought that was an old wives tale. People really do things like that?( You'll Shoot your eye out )
I hope it wasn't your pick your nose finger, That would really suck.I ran my thumb through a milling machine.Join the club.
Your post's will be surely missed.
Nose Finger.:clapping::laugh::rofl:

the tip of my pointer finger years ago. They re attached it, and the feeling was back in less than 2 years. Just the scar tissue is less sensitive to touch. Cut mine of with power pruning shears. Mend fast, my friend!

thanks for all the great support. really means a lot.

so far i still have top of finger. seeing doc today. even if i lose it i'll still feel lucky. could have been whole finger. should be able to hold tools fine if i lose top. they shorten your finger a bit more so they have enough skin to fold over. don't see how that would be a problem holding tools and such working if i do lose tip. at least i hope it won't be a big issue if i lose top. would sure like to hear about others who could hold tools and work fine with part of middle finger missing in case that happens. misery loves company so i appreaciate any 'i cut my finger off' stories as inspiration.

biggest problem right now is bored out of my mind. hoping one friend with se/etrac andy book is done so i can read it, as other friend getting etrac wants me to brush up on it so i can walk him through his when he gets it in a few weeks. can only watch so much tv and my web time is limited at the moment.

WHAT ? .....IT"S THE MIDDLE FINGER ? >.......... YOU CAN"T LOOSE THAT FINGER >......When you flip someone the bird, it's not going to mean as much !!!!........ Now that I know that , I'll have to pray harder for you !!......GEEESH !!!......

Still have tip so far but still dont know if it's a keeper. it's white as a ghost. i guess if it wasn't going to live theb being 16 days out it would be smelling or black/rotten by now, but doc won't give me any idea on what is going on. wants me back in 10 days. i can relate to those who don't know how to type and keep messages short 'cuz this hen pecking one handed stinks!

main problem is bored beyond belief. Wasn't able to get on net much 'cuz i have to drive to another place to get on. i am driving now. showers take twice as long with hand outside shower in plastic bag. Thanks again for all the support.

oh, and guy told me friend lost tip on same finger and can hold tools no problem as a mechanic. real happy to hear that! my trade involves tools in hvac repair.

I cut the end of my thumb off once and rather than remove the nail they taped it back on with those strips. It turned white like cotton. When I saw that I thought it was gone. It was staying wet all the time with all that bandage. I removed the bandage and it got better but I really don't think it was in danger anyway. Being in that bandage will make it white but after 16 days I think you got a good chance of keeping it.

Thanks for that info. Yes, mine is white as cotton too.vAlso made me think i might lose it so good to hear. he has me now only covering it at night.

UPDATE: Still have tip. See Doc on the 8th. Finger tip still white as a ghost, like cotton, but I would figure since it's been 3 weeks now it would be black or smelling if it was dead? One thing that sucks is I can only count to 9 and 2/3rds now. Bordem is my enemy. Every day is like groundhog day for me. Thanks again for all the prayers/support.

Good news. Saw doc yesterday. it's been a month since it happened. Told me he feels i've got a real good chance now to keep it. He took out the stitches. Still white as cotton. He put a compression bandage on after removing stitches which i have to wear until friday when he wants to see me again. after that i'll still have to cover it at night and wear a splint like i've been doing. says it should take another month or two to finish healing. just in time for a spring hunt or to plant my veggy garden.

I'm glad the prognosis looks good !!.....I'm happy for you ......Follow doc's orders ...You don't want to cause injury to it ......Sincerely, Jim

I hope your feeling better.

Wow, looks like mine did, only the fingernail was still on mine, but all finger under it was gone all the way to the base of the nail. how did you do that and when? Able to re-attach it?

A few days ago i woke up and took off the bandage and splint, which i have to wear while sleeping to protect it. My finger tip was all black! Thought it was dead. Went to doc and he said that was normal and all still looks good. Said the black/dead top layer will peal off. See him again in 10 days. Am allowed to get it wet now so no more plastic bag on my hand with it sticking out the shower while showering. Weather is warming up here so later this week i'll be watching my friend use his new etrac and helping him tweak it. i almost enjoy watching over a friend's shoulder while he hunts as i do hunting myself. often do that to take breaks on a long day's hunt. He hasn't even read manual yet so i've researched settings and helped him to set some programs up.
