Bill, semi-auto works on the test coin as I thought it would. I cannot explain why with an Audio Gain of 1 and Sensitivity of 1 the depth is greater with semi-auto ON than in Manual. I thought the two would be the same based on how I understand the two functions. I am going to talk to the folks at Minelab and ask for an explanation.

My interest is as most of us to be sure I am getting maximum depth. What is confusing is that some users resport doing best with one or the other. The first explanaions that comes to mind goes with what is in the Owner's Manual and it depends on environmental factors.
However, I would expect to be able to use manual and go slow and do better than in semi-auto or just as good as a minimum. I don't know what auto VS semi-auto actually means for the two detectors.
