You Know I'm Kinda Peed

A lot of great videos on youtube by Goes4ever and others from here. And of course the faqfaq section that Digger set up is like none other. No other forum has anything comparable to it. And beyond that, with the help you can get here and the ease of use of the Xterras, all your questions should be answered. I watch the videos because I enjoy watching folks make great finds. Gosh knows I swing my 70 plenty with sometimes nothing to show for it, but the Xterra is as good as it gets. If you're unhappy with it, someone on this forum will gladly give you a couple hundred for it, shipped of course.

Barnacle Bill came up with the idea for the FAQFAQ. So hat's off to him for that concept. :beers: HH Randy

i dont get it,,,,you buy a detector and you want to sit at home watching videos of some guy using the same machine and digging stuff,,,,,,you just spent a grand and you want to sit at home and watch videos,,,,,

Man...your kidding right ?
Get OFF your butt - AWAY from the screen and use that Xterra !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
....THEN you might LEARN something
But somehow I doubt it.

SIMPLICITY !!! I believe this machine is a wonderfully designed piece of technical equipment. Its not really that complicated, Read your manual over and over and go to the dvd that they gave you when bought it when you need to but the main thing is to go search for TREASURE I LOVE USING MINE I FOUND A 1957 SILVER DIME THE VERY FIRST TIME I USED MY X70 , I kinda felt like you do about the the amount of video's on youtube to watch with the xterra detectors but hey go buy you a quality camcorder and take a video of yourself using you xterra and put it on youtube so we can see how well your are doing . In time , (you got to use it though ),, you will Love your xterra!!

My apologies to Barnacle Bill for not giving him credit for the faqfaq section. Great idea.

This site has so many good people on it with more help just for the asking , you'll learn more here than you could ever on any video. The FAQFAQ is really nice and if you have any problems the help is here 24/7 -- where else can you get that kind of service and for FREE to boot! Thanks everyone who have helped me and others on this board we all do really appreciate it. Thank you. Have a happy Holiday.

Doug

Maybe he already traded the Xterra on a nice, quiet, stable F75.

I have watched many of the videos on utube but one thing I would love to see is a video with audio from the machine of someone making a good find
with a questionable signal. I would love to hear what they are hearing and why they chose to dig a bouncy and iffy signal.
I pretty much dig almost everything but still waiting for that iffy signal to pay off.

metal digger and lambo 1,

I kinda figure it like this; you have to run down 3 to 5 sets of batteries to get the hang of what is going on, while asking questions along the way. Even then I still wonder what the machine is telling me so I dig and I dig and I dig.

What makes me dig an iffy signal is the 1914s wheat sitting next to a nail. Better if it were a 1914d, but you never know until you dig. Come spring time I will be so rusty and will have to learn it again.

I had a merc,an indian penny, a wheatie and a jefferson all in what ended up being a 12" square hole 8 inches deep and with the nails I got a different signal from every which way. I could get a repeat and dig a coin then there was something under and to the side and so on.

My first set of batteries had me wondering if I had bought the right machine (for me). I asked and got good input. Towards the end of that first set I started to get the "swing" of things.

Good Luck
Jeff

I just got a new video camera and hope to record some of my hunts in the coming year. Making unedited video/audio of "natural hunts" is on my list of "things to do". But don't hold your breath in hopes of watching me find a good target with a questionable signal as I've been waiting over 4 years to have an "iffy" signal pay off, myself! So far, having dug hundreds and thousands of targets, bouncing TID (more than two notch segments) and mixed audio tones have never produced a single coin for me. Multiple or adjacent targets will give mixed signals. Incorrect settings can give mixed signals. Coins on edge give different signals from different directions. But even so, those signals are consistent. It may happen  All I'm saying is that I haven't witnessed mixed signals on isolated, individual coins. Not when the detector is set up and operated properly. JMHO HH Randy
