At approx. 3:06 into the clip Im wondering if he accidentally put the vac in reverse if it would make the same sound and then maybe the hunt would be over .................or at least he would light up a smoke..........lol:drool:

If I am being honest, I have the same gut response to this machine as I do reading the post about Hookahs.
I understand we all get our tractors cranked in different ways, but the aquablob and the floating gas engine powered hookah seem to be different ends of the same kooky spectrum, at least for me, although the hookah idea seemed to be better received.

I don't know, maybe it's me.

There was a whites dealer in Houston TX made one of similar design,he would bring that noisey a** thing to Galveston Island to work the bugs out, wouldnt take long before he got shut down .

Had a friend years ago that used a 4" gold dredge on floats and a screened basket on the output to do the same thing.
He had the suction nozzle on a pole in his left hand and the detector in the right.
When he found a target he moved the nozzle to it, hit the throttle, and sucked it up and into the basket, then went on to the next one.
He had no problem paying for the small dredge with just the coins he recovered.

I agree it is too noisy for public beach use during the time others are present but late at night or early morning might work.
Aside from the noise issue I see nothing wrong with using technology to help you recover more of the good stuff.
A good muffler might take take the noise down to nothing.
Wont make holes any different than a guy with a scoop.

AquaVak 5000 is top of the line model.
The unit in the video, Cost $2,495.00
But when you consider the extra noise right their with you, a good sand beach scoop is better.
Sure it looks like fun, but I thought about this and I just do not see many people buying fuel and hitting the beach with one.

People start using these near public beaches and you'll start seeing local governments banning metal detectorists. Like all tools, I'm sure this type of technology has it's time and place but, sometimes the race to bigger, better, faster is really a bullet in the foot for the thing you love. Just my 10 cents

I personally think it is a great idea, just needs a lot of engineering. The complaints about ingenuity seem to be like complaining about the new Etrac or the new Whites machine being too good, ruining my hobby! The guy in Houston near Lee Rd, had one about 14 yrs ago. It was a weedeater, with a 'swamp cooler' impeller on it creating a venturi effect. His probelm was the collection bag got filled within two or three targets. He had it over his shoulder originally in sort of a back pack. Had to stop, unharness it and get it in front to dump the shells out. Probaboy why the new model has the smalled tube in front for ease of access.

So, if was battery powered, light, quiet, and efficient, would we still hear the badmouthing? I guess that was what happened when the sluice was invented, and the dredge. All the guys doing it the 'hobby' way, the traditional gold pan, complained about the new invention ruining their activity. Rediculous!

It's this kind of stupid idea that will kill our hobby. There's enough people against us without giving them more ammunition. When those against us push for laws to ban this type of equipment, you know they will use this to include all detectorist's in a broad sweep. This in my opinion is a VERY bad thing for our hobby. I also find it hard to believe he found that much "treasure" just because his scoop is motorized. I feel that when park and beach owners ban these noise making contraptions, they will use the opportunity to ban all detecting from their beaches. JMHO

i was thinking the same thing it seems metaldetecting is being banned in alot of places and video's like this making it look so easy with alot of easy reward will have every weekend warrior out their tearing up the beach's ticking people off having new laws banning it even more

Interesting contraption....I wonder what detector he has connected to it?
I think it looks silly however it is a clever idea especially if you have a bad back and dont enjoy digging ...perhaps if it looked a little more subtle in appearance maybe have the motor sitting on a floating platform or conceal the motor in a box on the floating platform and disguise it perhaps ......I reckon one would get arrested just having one let alone using it where I am....

NO FREAKING........:veryangry:
THAT PIECE OF LOUD JUNK WILL NOT FLY. THAT WILL GET US ALL BANED FROM PUBLIC LAKES AND SWIMMING AREAS. ITS ALREADY GETTING HARDER AND HARDER TO GET ACCESS TO PLACES.
Besides that's just plain freakin lazy. Its not hard to scoop up a little dirt. I hope i never run into to someone with one i would hate to be rude and escort someone from the water.
I will not let my one hobby that pays for it self be ruined by a sound i cant stand anyway. IF IT WAS SILENT I WOULD NOT BE AGAINST IT.

I think its a great idea. That's how we got to where we are at now, by advances in technology. I am out to have fun and find treasure. If this machine can do it quicker. I see no problem. Also at an ocean beach it wouldn't seem so loud compared to the waves. I mean " come on" for the most part we end up cleaning a large portion of garbage left by the very people who complain about us. So I really don't care what they think.
I like the Aquavak and am trying to contact the company to purchase one. And I would love to see a tourist say something demeaning to me ( a local).

....how to get yourself clubbed over the head while detecting. Use that machine. Id laugh my a$$ off if I seen some one using that an fall over in water...or get hit by a wave.
