How did I know I was noobsauce...

I was in the back yard learning and my 14 year old daughter came out and was curious... I was digging and pulling out dirt in my left hand and passing it under the coil.... *beep beep* ahh, there it is... put the dirt on my cloth... use the pin pointer nothing... grab next handfull... *beep beep* (you know where is is going huh??) scan with pin pointer... nothing.... rgggg.... once again... I am getting frustrated when my daughter calls me a dork and says that I probally left my ring on.... With the gloves on... easy mistake to make in the beginning... or perhaps I am the dork :)

She busted my chops for a few days on that one...

That was 3 weeks ago...

OK... raise your hands... anyone else do this ever???

Hand raised!

Yes , And also I wear a big gold ring on my right hand that I pass under
the coil from time to time just to assure me it is capeable of finding the
good stuff :rofl::rofl::rofl:

No,I never have done that, because I do not wear rings or any jewelry.Only my wrist watch. You know something? It will set off the detector, too.
Waterbug

 I don't wear rings or a watch.

No, I haven't done that. I don't ware a watch or jewelry.

I have had a metal object in my hand and picked up
a target and waved both over the coil. fealing like a dunny..........

HH,

The first time I tried my new detector at the beach I was frustrated because my detector was beeping like crazy.

Darn Black Sand!

It only freaked out when I swung it towards the left.
In my left hand I held a large metal sand scoop.

DOH!

Took me 10 minutes to figure that one out!

not exactly, but occasionally I have worn steel toed boots and not even thought about it. It usually takes a few minutes me me to figure out why its beeping so much.

I haven't done that BUT, not long after I got my MD (x-mas) I went in the backyard to try it out. I passed all sorts of stuff under the coil just to hear it beep. I would get a different sound when I used my left hand or right hand. The reason for that is I had an accident back in '95 in which I now have 2 rods in my left forearm which kept changing the tone I got. I spent 2 evenings trying to figure it out before it hit me, I definitely won the bonehead award that day. In between my wife laughing at me she managed to get in "gee, you would think you would remember that", it was followed by some other stuff but, I won't print that..LOL

I noticed on my minelab GP3500 after 80 times It was just my hand nothing more! Says something about it in the owners manual I think. honest truth Grant

I love that we don't take our selves to serious and can poke a little fun back in the mirror :)

If I could have only learned that at 20! :)

That's about as much fun as going detecting wearing steel tip shoes/boots. Every time the coil goes by there's another beep.
