Probably half of them truly believe they are telling the truth - and the other half are lying through their teeth to get you to leave!
 
:usaf: I always love it when someone starts a conversation with "you won't". Some of my fave are " you won't find any fish in this pond" "you won't find any deer in these woods" " you won't find any arrow heads in this field" Funny thing, I always do. Maybe the person is just protecting their honey holes. I always smile and thank them for the TIP.
 
I think most people believe that once a site has been hunted, its all gone.
And i think that not a few detectorists think that after THEY hunt a site, its all gone. I love hunting behind folks that believe that.
