:yikes::tesoro:OK GUYS--WHATS THE BEST ALL AROUND TESORO DETECTOR:shrug:

[attachment 83773 allthebest.JPG]It depend's on what kind of detecting area you are in !! I use a 71/2 inch wide scan for old foundation's and in open feild's . I have volume set at four on the dial and disc under pulltab i use black magic headphone's and leach shovel for digging. I have all the tesoro coil's that will work on the machine!!:tesoro: Here on of my best find's found with the evil machine!!

What a find!! Rare Geo. Washington inaugural button - like the one shown in Western & Eastern Treasures mag. April 2008, 2007 Best Finds, page 33.

You are very right! The Tejon is one heck of a relic machine. All one has to do is read a few of the forums and see how well folks do with the Tejon! :clapping: HH TonyTX :tesoro:

I have had about ten detectors of all brands and now I am down to just two. I have a Cibola and a Vaquero and both do well but the ground balance makes a huge difference here in the North Dakota soil! I have used my machines beside some of the higher end "big money" machines and the vaquero does as well if not better in most cases . I don't care for a screen to much because it keeps me from digging . I used a machine when I was over seas that had a meter and for the first few months I would not dig in the foil range until one day I dug one of the foil signals and pulled a very small 1851 silver coin out of the ground. No telling what I had passed over before. The Vaquero is the one for me. Set the ground balance and get to digging. :beers:

Perhaps it is the long awaited, and eagerly anticipated .......next model to be unveiled, and put on sale.... The fabled, 'Hunter' (Cazador)....(It's worse than waiting for hell to freeze over!). However, if and when Tesoro do bring out another new metal detector,, then I reckon that'll be the one! Until such time it's 'Horses for Courses' I guess. Not being one for screens or digital read-outs, I'd opt for the Vaquero or the Tejon. There ain't much gold in these here parts or I'd say Lobo as well. But that's only my humble opinion. Each to their own.

Funny; this thread was started in 2008.

I've used 9 different model Tesoros now, and presently own 7 models. My current favorite, used almost daily, is the Outlaw. I've had it for just a short while, and like my other Tesoros, it just works. Thing about the Outlaw, is that I think it's the perfect combo of excellent discrimination, good depth, adjustability and light weight. No idea why more people don't love the Outlaw. I think it's severly underloved.
Found my second silver ring with it yesterday and I've only had the Outlaw for about two weeks.

Tejon/Vaquero pick your medicine.....

Happy Hunting,
Bill G

* Tesoro Tejon
* Tesoro Vaquero
* Tesoro Sand Shark
* White's M6

I have only had the two a Cibola and a Vaquero

The Cibola was a nice machine but once I got the Vaquero the ground balance adjust is a great tool as I scan an area I check the balance and can make adjustments. I reaches down a good inch farther than the Cibola as well

I found a silver ring at 8 inches in a tot lot on sunday and the signal was solid

One that I haven't got yet ?:blink:

Best for what? My favorite Tesoro is by far the Tejon - Take it anywhere and it fills any role you need it to. It's a beast on relics - Gets deeper than most detectors out there, with the 5.75 concentric it will work miracles on trashy ground, and even with the 5.75" concentric it will punch deeper than most detectors.
I reckon it is one of the best all around machines out there.

Modded Cibola is a better all around machine than the Vaquero. I don't feel the Vaquero has a place at all once you've modded the Cibola.

All around: Tejon, Modded Cibola.
C&J specific: Outlaw, Compadre.

DeLeon? Why no mention of the DeLeon? I understand it's a very good MD. There is a long time detectorist who posted a video on you tube who claims the DeLeon is the best of the Tesoro. Pretty convincing too.

Bought one and all it did was lay on the ground and growl
