Yes or no?

Good observation and thoughts on the subject.

It really depends on what detector you are using now and what type of hunting you do. If, for example, you now have an E-Trac and hunt for silver coins in iron-infested sites you should find more silver with the CTX because recovery is faster. Gold rings on a beach? Probably not worth switching to a CTX.

Heres the thing I dont understand is I CHECKED EVERY silver i found in the last 5 hunts that was still in the ground with each program . I thought they sounded the same same location on screen but with a slight diffrence in numbers of course . I had discrimation on and off an hit the target from every angle . That brings me to my question . I wonder if being simple on programs is the way to go for most or if trying to out think the machine is hurting the rewards on others

Excellent observation. Knowing and understanding the functionality are paramount in becoming consistently successful with any detector. And it is especially true with the CTX 3030. It is a complex detector that can be fine-tuned to fit your style and your sites. Some might see all these options as being overwhelming. But if you take them one at a time, learn what they do and see how you interact with each one, you'll be surprised at how "simple" it becomes. When you're out on a hunt, if it says something you don't quite understand, rescan the target and listen more carefully. Use the information provided on the SmartScreen to either confirm or deny what you think you've heard. If you are still confused, dig it up and learn something from the experience. I've written countless posts suggesting that there is no magic program. We all have different styles of hunting, we all seek different types of targets, we all hunt different types of sites. The best advice I can offer is to build your programs based on settings that work best for you, and learn to trust the information that your CTX 3030 is providing. If you can do those things.....it all becomes "simple" and you won't need to try and out-think it. JMHO HH Randy

Yes. In fact, I was able to compare signals side by side with a CTX. Again and again it was able to sniff out good targets that my Explorer SE Pro could not pick up.

I own one now and combine mode is amazing!

Better on the beach, gold rings or not. A little deeper than E-trac, easier to swing, faster response, et al. Great machine.

yes for me and the last 5 hunts have giving me silver. I was in a slump for a while but ctx brought me back out of it . Yes. And I have found the post by Chadwick to be spot on, have wondered the same myself, and thought it was just me :stars:

I'd like to also add an addendum. I did not ever got comfortable with the stock coil on the E-Trac and relied mostly on a SEF 6x8. This stock coil is different tho, and using the words of an old Texas buddy of mine "that dog hunts"

Yes definatly coming from the XLT dfx at pro and etrac to the ctx I've done much better

I think people should stubbornly stick with their White's and leave the good stuff to we MineLab users.

Ja. Oui.
Wasn't exactly an expert with the etrac but I did well.
Ctx=more betterer!
