While I might have been happier if there had been awesome finds jumping out of the ground, I was satisfied with today's results. The site is one I've wanted to hunt for years, but never was lucky enough to have my work schedule, the weather, and the farmer's planting schedule align so that I could get a hunt in until today.
I didn't set the world on fire by any means. The prevalence of square nails and bits of fence wire made it a tough go. A halter ring here and a harness rivet there with odd bits of copper scrap were most of what I found.
Then I got into some slightly better stuff. A couple oil lamp parts, a squashed thimble, a small decorative pin, a fancy old suspender clip, part of a clasp, an oval grommet, a nit comb, a brass heel plate, and a spoon handle.
The find of the day made the whole hunt worthwhile! The only coin I found, and it was a bucket lister. I only wish that it didn't have a hole in it.
