Hi everyone, its been ages but Ive had some computer problems and only just found this site again. One question that the experts will hopefully know if the Software used in the Explorer has been updated. I know there was some talk here ages ago but Im not sure. For those who dont know I had the dud XS that was sent back 2 times to Minelab to be sorted out and its working great. Whilest I dont have some of the find you guys are getting I have made a few interesting finds. Not that they are spectacular but I found an old cloths iron minus the handles in a paddock and a 1911 1/2 penny. Im still going out to the mining township of Lefroy in Northern Tasmania but due to the many other hobbies I have Ive been slack with my XS but thats about to change. Great to see many people interested in the XS, whilest its hard first up to use the detector is great when ya get the hang of it.

Hi Tassie your comments are of particular interest to me as I bought a new Explorer xs four weeks ago and found that when I fired it up the screen said December '99. Then when I started to use it I found the iron mask very confusing until I realised the " on off " indicator was reading back to front . Now that I'm aware of this it is not a problem and the machine works beautifully .In the last two weekends I've found two gold rings 'one with diamonds valued at $1800.
But I was wondering what year/months you were refering to with regard to the dud software.

I wasnt refering to dud software in the XS but refering to a problem that I personally had where my machine wasnt functioning correctly. This also included the problem with the crack which has been resolved. Sound like ya have had some great finds there in NZ. Email me and let me know what kinda places your been detecting in.

I recently got another Explorer and the software date on mine is 20 SEP 0, also another difference I've noticed is that the backlight is now green.

Hi Jerry, thanks for that, is there any noticable difference that you can tell with the explorer you have?
 
The only other thing that I've noticed is the part of the coil bolt that you turn is longer which makes it easier to tighten, as far as operation everything else seems the same. HH Jerry
