XP Deus 2 Depth Concern

I know what the manual says regarding audio response settings and cautions that too high of a setting affects the ability to assess depth and can amplify small false signals and perhaps mask good targets. I get that But the best advice I was given when I was complaining that I was not getting the depth I was used to with my D1 compared to the Nox 800 was turn up the audio response. For me in my ground and how I was hunting it made a world of difference. And I do the same with the D2. I run it at 6 and going over ground I've hunted a lot with other machines consistently dig up deeper targets. Dimes at 8 inches where I've swept many times before. My 2 cents and it works for me. Your mileage may vary.
Would be interested to know both mineral level and trash volume you hunt in. The depths I've seen here are what I have routinely found with the D1 using an audio of 3 because of the depth perception in trashy areas. I did see a video comparing D1 and D2 and both saw the same deep target though the D2 heard it slighly clearer. I also believe was in UK where they hunt cleaner areas.

Some areas I hunt are pretty trashy but I really think the D2 does a great job of hearing good targets in trash. Sometimes with just a blip of a high tone. That’s when I circle around and focus on the spot.
I mostly use zero discrimination and listen to it all. It gets chatty sometimes but I set the high tones to the targets I want.
85-87 is typically the ground reading I get when I ground balance

Definitely worth trying next time out. Glad I re-read this
I did change my settings to those talked about above and it is making stuff jump out at me. Very cool, thanks to those who shared. I was more of a Deep HCs guy and with these settings its a beast!

I thinking in the field you have silver coins which we know are typically deeper than clad. But they have been the ground longer and have had plenty of time for a nice ion halo effect to develop which makes them look bigger to the detector. And as a caution, when you dig and disturb the soil around that deep coin and don't bring it out in a clump, it can disappear from your detector. So when you get a disappearing deep coin signal, keep digging out the dirt and rechecking it with the detector or pinpointer.

Just want to confirm that running the audio gain up to 6 (along with some other changes) has made a huge difference for me. I've been hunting an old home site with a friend that uses a minelab equinox. The best coins there are deep (8'-10") and his equinox was kicking it, where my D2 was not doing nearly as well. Sure I was picking up finds in the 5"- 6" range, but nothing deeper. After I read IDXMonster's post, I decided to try his settings. It made a world of difference. Where I was disappointed before, I'm now excited. I still have a lot to learn, but the one thing I do know is the D2 is a "Beast".

Yep. For me as well. I was totally underwhelmed with my D2 when I first got it. My Nox 800 was outperforming it. Someone suggested upping the audio and it was a game changer. Sold the Nox
