XLT

The XLT is all that. I am not the brightest bulb in the pack and I know mine inside and out. It is not hard to learn.

The best feature in my humble opinion is the tone ID, I know from thousands of hours in the field when to get

excited about a signal. The thing about the XLT is you can adjust it to your conditions, it excels in the trash and iron.

I am a 3 coil hunter. Don't expect a lot of depth out of it, the deepest good target that I could verify was 7".

I dug a large cent once on a +95 from a 10" hole (once) one time out of a thousand, but I'm not sure where the coin came from.

If you want depth buy a Nautilus.

I bagged a 2 cent piece at 9" in pull tab discriminate with the Silver Eagle. The little brother to the XLT/Spectrum series. Those White's XLT/Spectrums can go deep when ya learn what they are saying.

The XLT was my first machine and I still look at the XLT thru rose tinted glasses. It was simple to use and I had fun using it finding everything from roman coins in England to Spanish reales in Florida. It really says a lot about the XLT when you hear people saying should I buy an XLT or a DFX? I have heard many stories of people switching back to the XLT after "upgrading" to the DFX. I used my XLT mainly in the all metal relic mode and a custom coins/jewelry mode, of course it struggled down around the salt water and I had to go in a different direction when I became a full time beach hunter.

I hunted with xlt for years and was very successful - and very pleased with its performance - had a blast with it. Still an excellent machine....although time is startin to pass it by....in its time - it was the stuff. Now....tectors have multi-frequencies...and live controls...and faster processors....and way more features/adjustability...to suit your huntin style and ground/mineral conditions. I have to say that hunting with and learning the xlt was good preparation for the next generation of tectors. Good luck to ya - can't go wrong with xlt.
