Hi Leesumm,

I've owned a Quick Draw II and it is no better than the Lone Star in my openion.

Both the Lone Star and the Quick Draw II have factory preset ground balanvce.

That's part of your problem. BH calls it "Automatic Ground Trac". That's BH BS.

The 250 also has factory preset ground balance. But the 250 is a better machine.

Both the 250 and the Bounty Hunter have 2 filter operation, the 250 at 6.5 kHz

and the Bh at 6.6 kHz. They are semalar in some ways.

Too high of sensativity will cause the false signal sanerio you described with

either of these machines. But the 250 is a better machine.

Not being able to adjust to the ground conditions may be a porblem for you.

As I keep saying, the best for the money is the lowley $152 Compadre.

Nobody wants to give the sleeper a chance. I use it all the time. Works better

than my more expensive machines but with less depth. The depth of the Compadre

is comperable to the BH QD II and the 250. Performance, there's no comparison.

HH,

Hi leesum:

What did these objects register as on the 250...I am thinking they were pieces of foil or something light that was moving in the water as you were digging...Do not think I would want to dig in a bog....I have to hand it to you...your a heartier soul than I...2 minutes in cold wet water, and you would have to carry me out, as my arthritis would be so bad I would not be able to move...:stretcher:
I frostbit my hands and feet when I was 8 falling threw a pond on the back of a snow mobile...had to crawl 1/2 mile back to the house. Ever since, they are the first things to give me pain when the weather turns cold or damp.

I was running the full metal mode trying it out and getting used to it. I did dig some tiny metal objects looked like they were a can or something that might have got hit with a mower. There wasnt really that much water for them to float in the ground , I dont really know what it was only happened twice . As far as the weather goes it was 70 degrees yesterday with just a little of the 10 inches left on the ground in spots, deal was tho before the snow we had over 6 inches of rain . now the day after we have another 5 inches on the ground and still coming down. Hey this just isnt right this is Arkansas folks . Its not supposed to snow like this in Arkansas maybe a skiff a few times but not 8 and 10 inches

As I have seen it so far, I think the world is doing an inversion...You southern folks are going to get the snow from now on, as us northerners have experienced milder and milder winters in the last few years...I am not kidding on this subject...I think I read somewhere that this has happened a few times in far back history...

Leesum,
I have had the same thing happen to me a couple of times. Everytime It has happened it turned out to be a large object on or at the surface near my hole. The bigger the object the further it is away from where I have pinpointed my signal. Last time it happened my signal showed silver at 6", I dug a big hole like you described and found nothing. I gave up and came back from the other direction 30 minutes later and it turned out to be an aluminum hood ornamate looking thing about 3" in diameter about 1/4" deep 10 inches from where I had pinpointed my target earlier. Picked it up and all signals in that area disappeared. Why that happened I have no idea.

As far as depths on the 250 you just bought, what are you getting?

When I said I felt my BH 202 was a better machine than my Ace 250, that has been my experience after two years worth of use of both machines.

As far as depth, in my test garden my Ace 250 cannot find a dime at a measured 4 inches. Nor can it find a quarter at 5 inches. My BH 202 finds both easily.

In fact, in the two years of Ace 250 use I have never found anything deeper than 4 inches. Nothing! My BH 202 can easily go deeper than that.

Maybe the 202 may be better for my soil conditions. Don't know and your experience may be different. But in my area of NE Arkansas the Ace 250 just doesn't get the job done.

I have only used the 250 once since I got it due to the fact IT WONT STOP SNOWING OR RAINING > lol its getting very depressing . But the first night with it I was in a pasture or field if you want. very very wet. red soil and rocky. I was picking some objects up at 4 to 6 inches with it after PP. Just on two occasions did I get a signal and didnt find any thing every time I dug to where the MD said it was the signal would move after digging to about 8 inches and the machine said 6 inches. But the signal kept moving on me but still wouldnt leave the general area of the original spot. On one spot I had a hole about 10 inches in dia. and about 8 inches deep. but never did find anything each time I thought to give up I would scan again and the signal would move the outer edge of the hole where it was the center to begin with. Previously I had hits on all metal mode from 2 inches to 6 inches and each time I dug on the PP I would dig something just about the depth the machine said it was. I never dug anything other than scrap .like pop or beer cans shredded . once I did get something about the size of a silver dollar but thin and a funny looking hole in the top. Close by I dug an air gauge looking thing about two inches dia. and about an inch thick. it was where the machine said it was and depth.
When it , if it does. dry out I am back in the pasture to look again in near dry soil to see what I can find . The owner said about 2 years ago a guy used one there and didnt find any thing
