Wooooo Hoooooo just finalized plans for a great detecting trip ....

.... my favorites are the ones that are partially destroyed and have been "saved" at their current state of dis-repair.

The castles where the English Lords still live are OK, but not as exciting to the imagination as the ruined ones.

... is enjoying the different culture, the travel, the driving on the left side of the road, the quaint pubs, the small town / rural English atmosphere, .... and I know you don't partake of adult beverages .... but I do and enjoy tasting the local brewed beers and ale each evening in the local pub. Heck, a few years back I was made an honorary member of the board of directors of the Hooten Pagnell Club in Yorkshire.

The pub is for members only but they never ask to see your membership card unless you are a Pakistani / Indian, are "of color", or start acting like a jerk. On my second trip to the UK I stayed at the B&B next door to the pub for about a week while detecting. Ate at the pub every night. Got to know literally everyone in the town of 125 people and many from other smaller local villages. Very nice people!

... We'd just have to make sure General Ray didn't get a B&B room in the same town as the rest of us. He does have a reputation for snoring.
