Wireless Headphones

Ok Guys and Gals I am so damn tired of kneeling on, hanging up with my digger at my waist, untangling from my e trac and every other pain in the butt things they cause. I will have to say honestly they really turn a good day bad...To make a long story short...I HATE THEM so what is the latest on a wireless set up? Where to buy and what's the best price and what do they consist of ?
I'm sure that I'm not the only one fed up with the hassle....

Check out AirHeadzWireless .com Dont know if thats what your looking for , they are a bit pricey but look to be well built. Andy did an article on them in one of the treasure magazines. Al

Way too much...next please.
I don't think there is enough difference in headphones to merit a 300.00 price tag, wireless or not.

I have to agree with Al....I use the Airheadz with my Etrac and cant live without them. Yes they are a bit pricey but trust me, they are well worth the investment. You will be very suprised on what you an hear with these guys and how clear they are. There is no response delay (at least that is noticable) and are made from communication grade headphones instead of entertainment grade.

I just bought a set of wireless headphones from Radio Shack ($79.95). Auvio portable digital wireless stereo headphones, 2.4GHz. They work very well, comfortable and light weight. I saw them being used at our club hunt last week and went to the first Radio Shack I found, they work great.

From what i hear there is a delay except for the airheadz not true?

Ok...I just got back from Radio Shack and bought the last set of Auvio 33-283 and the reason there not listed online is they went on CLEARANCE...Reg-79.99..Clearance price is 49.97.
So go to your Radio Shack and get a good price before they are gone. 33-281 replaces these but all the reviews say they are junk. These seem to be very sturdy and I am happy.

My SunRay Pro Golds broke after about 3 weeks. I can only hear out of one side now. Maybe I'll go wireless next time.

It's really starting to piss me off that one can spend hundreds of dollars for headphones, coils, etc. and they only last a month or two.

Maybe it's just me, but this high end metal detecting equipment is turning out to be as good a cheap Chinese crap you buy at the dollar store.

Drives me crazy when the coil is slightly past the target before you hear the response:thumbdown:
There is definitely no delay At All. I would have returned them if there was any.... Go ahead and spend lots of money for something that is no better. I will put these up against any others any time.

Radio Shacks Auvio 33-283---fifty bucks.------Hmmm, I gotta try me a pr. of these!--------Why are the replacement ones (33-281) getting bad reviews?----------Disregard my question about the 33-281's, I just pulled up the reviews on them.----You're right--not good reviews on those 281 replacements (breakage & tone).--------------Del

I recently purchased a set of Airheadz wireless headphones. As was said above they are very expensive, but in my case they are necessary. I am hearing impaired in both ears and every set of headphones I tried had a feed back (a constant buzzing created by the hearing aids) Andie's magazine article stated that this would not happen with these Airheadz so I finally broke down and bought a set. They not only have no feed back but I can hear better with these then any headphones I have ever used. Every sound (tone) is sharp and clear and I can hear sounds I haven't heared for years because of my poor hearing. I can't imagine how well you could hear with these if you had good hearing.

The first thing you will experience is you will need to turn down the volume, and you won't need to run the threshold volume any where near as loud as you normally would. I can't say enough good things about these headphones. They have been a life saver for me. If you get a chance to put a pair of these on your head you just won't believe the difference they will make. Expensive yes, but worth every dollar. Rick IL.

When the Auvio wireless is set up it would be a good idea to mount the transmitter in a safe place so it won't be broken off at the plug portion if it is sticking out of the detector jack receptacle. Only 3 additional items are needed to do this as I have shown here. First you will need a receptacle adapter to accept the smaller plug on the transmitter, then a 12 inch cable extension to enable you to relocate the transmitter under the e trac battery housing and last a double female adapter to connect the cable to the transmitter. I used clear silicone to attach the transmitter to the e trac. That way it can be easily removed and cleaned up if I ever want to. But it can be permanently attached as you can recharge the transmitter on the E trac.
Below are pictures of the parts and the finished product. And by the way...they work great, no sound delay at all and no complaints. You will just have to get used to how much you will love the no hassle of not messing with the cable always in your way. I know a lot of you will not want to benefit with these but for the ones who have them or going to get them...This is for you...My pleasure, Herb

I decided I was going to try the Airheadz after reading the article, too, but $340 plus tax and shipping is ridiculous. I'm not sure I'd pay even half that! I have to lay my metal detector farther away from my target because otherwise I get interference from my wheelchair. Because of that, wireless headphones were almost a must. I called the people at Airheadz to see if they could cut me a deal on a pair of scratch & dents, but the sales lady said they weren't in the business of giving equipment away (I did not ask for a handout, mind you).

I bought a pair of the Auvio wireless headphones several weeks back, and they've worked great for me. The headphones are a little bit lightweight, so it will be interesting to see how sturdy they turn out to be. My only real complaint is that the ear cups (ear pieces?) are a little bit too small. Or maybe I just have ears that are too big. In any case, they get a little sore after several hours. Obviously you can slide them down around your neck, and the problem is solved.

In regards to a lag or delay in signal, I agree with Herb in that there is NO delay whatsoever. There is a definite difference in the way the tones sound when compared to my Jolly Rodgers headphones, but response time is equally as good.

All-in-all, I am very satisfied with the Auvio wireless headphones. I've read on the UK boards about using an electric guitar wireless adaptor to convert wired headphones. Has anyone here tried that?

I have used my Auvios about 5 or 6 times and I can't believe I waited so long.

No matter what your brand preference is...If you don't have wireless headphones....you just don't know what you are missing..

I bought and used the Auvio 33-283 last year when I was swinging the V. When I bought the E-trac and tried them, I would receive a little feed back on the follow through of a target. That wasn't something I couldn't deal with, but one day at the park with about an 83 degree day I noticed the left speaker cracking a bit and by the end of the day it was shot. My assumption is, it doesn't like humidity/ sweat. $50.00 in less than 3mo. is not worth it.. This is what I experienced with them, maybe a lemon  but I now own a beautiful looking wireless head set that doesn't work.

By the way, they are for sale for parts. $8.99 plus shipping. lol and will sell !!

hi moose
doesnt the V come with fairly expensive wireless heaphones ?
bad luck about breaking them mate
my sentry ho900 are about a day away according to postal tracking but my hand is busted up so my feedback may to wait till i can get out m.d. again
i dont think they are really meant for outdoor use like the expensive airheads and v3 ones so i know they will be 'delicate'
