Who likes to be tethered to their detector? I always hated it. From the modification forum Tinfoil said the Radio Shack 33-1253 wireless headphone worked great.
Well I was sceptical because I had tried two different systems a couple of years ago. I bought a set of the 33-1253's. I am amazed! They work great. The speakers sound great. There is no lag in the signal. What a relief!
The modification came about when I plugged the transmitter in the detector. It just hung there all loose and twisty. I just couldn't stand it. So I took it apart and removed the swivel plug and wires. Removed the plug from the swivel and soldered longer wires to the circuit board. Added some shrink tube and it looks much better. It fits nicely right next to the control head.
It doesn't have to be modified to work. I just like to modify things to my liking.
I just finished it and swung it over my test garden in the dark. There is 2 inches of ice and about 5 inches of snow but the 250 beeped just fine!
