Thanks Jerry for the links on the rings. I think my friend needs to get the Claddagh ring appraised. There are a couple of very small stamps (marks) between the SD and the 375, might be older than he thought.
 
Your detecting buddy did very well finding 3 rings in one hunt. The SD may be the jewelry manufacturer
