Why so many people dumping the Deus 2

Seems to be a huge number of used Deus 2 machines hitting all the classifieds over the last 6 weeks,, especially the last two weeks..I know I sold mine for two reasons,,one the control box wouldn't stay on the stem mount and second was the 11 inch coil was so prone to EMI it was unusable in places I hunt with the original Deus 1 with no emi problems at all...I'm thinking Deus failed on this machine

I hadn't noticed a glut of used machines.....but I haven't been looking either. The control box/stem issue was annoying. I put some silicone kitchen and bath type caulking on the outer side of the little plastic stem brackets just to stiffen it up a bit and it worked like a charm. I still use the tether though just in case, but it hasn't popped off once since I stiffend it with the silicone. I can't speak to the 11 inch coil and EMI. I have the 9" and it is very quiet. Personally I've been pleased with the D2's performance as it has found goodies the D1 left behind.

If I'd have had a 9 inch coil I think that would have made a difference in the EMI, that 11 inch just screamed interference tho ...Noise cancel didn't seem to work at all. Don't get me wrong,I'm not saying the D2 isn't any good at all,,but when claims are made it's the absolute best and I see them being put up used in abundance either the claims are biased or the people who are selling them dont know how to use them..Both those scenarios could spark a debate here.lol

I love the Deus2 machine-yes I understand the “minor” issue of the control box sometimes coming loose from the stem but I have a small Velcro loop that I put through a loop around the stem that attaches to remote/no issue for me.

Apart from that this machine like the original Deus I had used for over a year more than delivers and it is deep. I’m heading out next weekend for the first fall civil war/colonial relic hunt of the season and am sure I will not be disappointed. My last hunt late spring in April I dug my third and prettiest Federal US Breast plate at 16 inches which was just a mere whisper that both my buddies original Deus machines could not here the signal- deepest relic I have ever dug. Im
using the General Program.

Happy hunting Deus 2 users

Thank you to all early adopters on anything. I’m the type that doesn’t have to be first, and i don’t mind waiting until a product has been on the market for a while before I take the plunge and spend my hard earned dollars if the product has been proven to be a winner.

I never had the D1 so I don't know but Isn't the D2 capable of running exactly like the D1 if need be? I guess if it was you'd still want to sell one of them.
Hey Charlives......yes you can run the D2 in single frequency like the D1. I wouldn't say you can run it exactly like the D1....but pretty close. But I agree, if you don't want the advantage of the multifrequency, you might as well stick with the D1. Both machines are proven winners in my book.

It just depends I guess if you and the detector speak the same language and it meets your personal preferences for build quality etc . I have 2 deus 2 ‘s . 1 with the 11” coil and one with the 9” coil . In my opinion the deus2 is an awesome detector . Wireless, light and deep. No issues with remote coming off stem as I have it tether and the way I hold it , I don’t bump the remote . No issues with emi except inside the house . Been finding things that where left behind by my other detectors or it could be I didn’t exactly hit the area as thoroughly as I thought . One thought that I have is that everyone one is probably excited about the new manticore and maybe they are trying to raise some cash that’s why you see the deus 2 coming up for sale more often . Lots of folks are saying that the dues 1 is the same as the deus 2 but in my opinion that is not so . First , the deus 2 is water proof not the deus 1 . Multi frequency , not deus 1 . More features like big numbers , not deus 1 .Etc etc . I owned the deus 1 since the beginning and it’s an excellent detector but the deus 2 is a different animal in so many better ways . I sold the deus 1 . Of course this is just my experience and my opinion with both detectors . Yours might be different . HH

In fall there is always more machines for sale.
A lot are just people that jumped on the bandwagon and realized it isn't a get rich scheme.
Some others maybe getting money to try out the manticore.
I for one am keeping the deus ii it works the way I need it to but will also be adding the manticore.

I have d1 and d2 and the 2 I think is way more machine than the 1. For all the reasons Albert stated plus I really like the xy screen. It’s all I use anymore. Reminds of polar plot on the Whites V3i
Who knows why people are selling them.
I bonded almost instantly with the d2. Not so much on the d1.
I never did bond with the Nox 800 and sold it although no doubt a lot of folks have been very successful with them.
I am on the list for the Manticore. We’ll see how that goes

There is only one reason I can see for parting with the D1 and thats to obtain better depth which the d2 actually seems to do slightly. The XY screen is virtually useless in heavy trash except to confirm the tones you have set. EMI tends to be worse on smf machines. On the d1 I sometimes have to set the kfz to around 25 to eliminate it. This will still give decent depth even on coins. Could it be that more machines are being sold because of this lousy economy that is probably going to get worse?

LT, I think another reason to upgrade from the D1 to the D2 is efficiency. With the D1, when I got the High Frequency coil, I was amazed at what my LF coils had left behind. The reverse is true also. The LF coils would certainly hit better on those deep high conductors than the HF. With the D2 and its multifrequency, you don't have to keep hitting sites over and over.

I think it's possible there may have been something wrong with your machine.
I bought a Deus I a couple of years and returned it because of EMI, I only tried it in my yard. I haven't had that trouble with the Deus II.
The RC poping off is a pain. Mine fell off just a couple of feet from a cliff of a river bank.
