Why is my F5 OUTPERFORMING my F70

So, did you ever figure out what the problem was?

I'm still waiting to hear from Fisher. They said they'd put a rush on the repair, and received it at 9am last Thursday. I thought I'd hear back by the end of Friday, but nothing, and nothing today either from their end. I tried calling their service person several times today, but he was unavailable most of the day until I got a hold of him this afternoon. By then the test engineers had already gone home, and nothing was noted in their system as to what the test engineer found, so hopefully tomorrow I'll learn what they found with the F70 (better not be NTF).

So far I'm doing OK with the F5, but I really need that extra F70/75 depth, otherwise the Explorer guys are running circles around me :surprised:
As long as they fix the F70, that's the main thing, I'd rather wait and have it fixed if that's what it takes. I'll use my Sovereign or C$ if I have to

It is a day when Cal Cobra, Crosby and I are going to hunt in San Francisco..

Brand new from Kellyco..........had to send the unit in to Fisher last week because it was past the 14 day return policy.....unit powers up, display is ok, chencked the coil plug, but will not detect metal of any kind...possibly a bad coil? changed batteries, etc, etc, .....it's never been out in the field yet...thank goodness for the 5 yr warranty.

Cal_Cobra: Any news?

Yep got it back, and Fisher replaced the coil, a capacitor on the mainboard, and updated the code. Had it out for a day, and it's definitely WAY more stable. I was able to run the sens on the large coil in the 60-70's, and even higher on the small coil. I was getting good depth with the small coil too.

Just got the new Fisher 5" DD today, so I'm setting up the "Bed of Trash" test bed complete with nails and pull-tabs mixed in with coins to compare the 5" DD to the stock F70 coil and the 6.5" Fisher concentric coil.

I hope the 5" DD cuts through trash like warm butter :detecting:

I'm curious to see how the 5" does against the 6.5" oval. I've got the 6.5" and thinking about getting the 5". Thanks......

It will be really so fast you will have to really slow down a bit
