I have tried every detector made and while trying them, I have kept my SE Pro. It sometimes sits idle while giving these new ones their turn. I can let the SE sit for months and when I pick it up, it is like I never stopped using it. I have been using an Anfibio Multi for most of the spring and have had some good days with it. It is as deep or deeper than the SE, but I dig way more trash with it. In all fairness, I am still learning it.
Two days ago I broke out the SE and decided to hit the banks surrounding an older ball field. I have hunted this spot many times and I always find something and yesterday was no different. I am hard of hearing and I like some degree of modulation so I run may gain at 8. I have what I consider the absolute best phones going(Grey Ghost Ultimates) and I can hear the whispers. Yesterday I started finding wheat pennies on this bank and all were 8 to 9 inches deep. Bare whispers of signals. I like modulation because I will know something is very deep and at gain 8 these deep coins were repeatable whispers. I ended up with 13 wheat pennies, but no silver. Today I went back and hunted the bottom of this bank. The first two finds were both mercury dimes and both were deep. Again 8 inches plus. I know there are people who think us die hard Explorer guys exaggerate our coin depths, but if you are good with any Explorer, these depths are quite common.
I have hunted four straight days and I am sore and tired. Today, I ran out of gas after two hours. I did find a deep no date buffalo so it was a pretty decent day. My SE Pro is in very good shape and I plan to keep it that way. I have seen a couple of them sell for under 400 bucks and they are a steal at that price.
