Who has replaced their T2 with an Omega ?

I started using one of those EMI eliminators with the plug goes into the unit and I really noticed a big difference with EMI. I even thought of adding two. One by the box and the other by the coil. I could run my Tejon in "hot" with no problem at all and my Omega is almost the same, they really cut the EMI's and stablize the detector. HH

Some say those work and some say they don't work,,,but if they help and lets you run higher sens,,, that has to help...
Where do you buy them at R S ???

They put those things on a lot of stuff, like computers, printers and etc...

I am thinking that the T-2 that my friend had,,,had a bad coil or problem...

I have a couple of units that don't seem to be bothered by EMI...

Wonder why some say the 6000 is better in EMI than the 8000 ???
I still like the 8000 the best.

You'd think if the EMI eliminators worked, the detector engineers would use them. Take your pick, the engineers are clueless or the EMI eliminators don't work.

Well I'm not an engineer but they work good enough for me. I'm not saying 100% is gone and I still get "snap""crackle" and "pop" now and then but not nearly as much as I did before. I picked mine up somewhere and I forget where but you can find them on Feebay real cheap and in different sizes. The one I'm using now fits a bit loose but a wrap or two if electrical tape does the trick and won't mark the cord. They might carry them at RS or Office Max or any other computer store but I'm going to get my nexy t one on Feebay.
I hope this can help you and anyone else with EMI problems. HH, Woodstock

Jumping into the post very late, & I may be partial to the T2 'cause I have been using it alot longer with success. Both are great units, & some rave about the Omega quietness in iron, but I feel I can do just as well with my T2 chatter & all. I think there's alot to be said about sticking with one unit & learning it like the back of your hand rather than getting whatever new unit keeps coming out.........

Hey Bill. Your Youtube review is what first got me looking at the T2. Thanks for the comment.

Maybe the detecor engineers don't but everything electrical that effected by EMI has them on the cables...e' nuff said. HH, Woodstock

Use what work for you, in your hunting area.......

What works for someone else where they live and hunt,, may not work for you where you hunt...

I have hunted several places over the years, that had some bad EMI.
I have about 6 or 7 units and never leave home with just one..
I have 2 units that have never been bothered by EMI....
So, if one is bothered by EMI, I use what will work..
There are all kinds of things that cause EMI...

If them things that help reduce EMI work for you, use em...
Dave J. will tell you that there are so many kinds of EMI, that they can not block em all....
If you look at a power cord and there is a odd looking thing on it, you can just about bet, its something to reduce EMI...

Good luck with what ever unit you use,
don't give up...

The omega was ok....the t2se is fantastic! I have no problem finding all coins at great depths. Its my version of the perfect detector. Batteries last forever, volume control, better balance ,deeper, just plain better. What else can i say

I have both and consider the T2 to be a better detector. The Omega will work and it is fun but to me it is just not as good as the T2 and mine is noiser at higher sens and/or lower disc. I have an F75 LTD too and would probably take it over either the T2 or the Omega but I have a bit of an emotional attatchment to the T2 it is one of the very first ones.... and it is a good stable machine. My only problem is sometimes getting confused trying to remember TID numbers but anything close I dig,, and I also carry a quarter, nickel, bronze cent, zinc cent, and a silver dime in my watch pocket. They have come in handy many times just as a quick brush up when starting a hunt with a different machine. I've never had one but the T2SE may be the ultimate... then again I have never used a G2...

I do miss the construction and trigger of my T2 but as others have said the Omega's VDI locks on coins better and seemed for me to hit harder on coins at least the high conductors. Now, I had one of the early T2's and I think that might be a part of the reason. I'm telling you that when I switched from the T2 to the Omega my coin count went up from that point on. And I pretty much was digging everything for a while anyway (with both), so it wasn't me being picky with the VDI. I couldn't believe what my T2 missed - again, I think cause it was an earlier machine. Also my Omega consistently found coins in the 6"-7" range, which I know the T2 will go to, I just think my T2 was tame. Definitely it was better on relics, but I don't look for them, just by chance.

BJ... I also had an early T2 with your friends problem. It may have been a bad coil... I sent it in
and I got it back with a new coil and with heavier springs in the battery compartment. This was as
remember about 2006... It now runs great. I first did not like the "GRAB" w/o tracking, But now I really
like my T2,,,

Am!!! I AGREE 100% WITH THAT STATEMENT!!! I recently posted almost the exact statement on another forum.Very few people actually say those words and Mean it these days! Some are constantly trading or reselling just because their detector won't get 1/4 of an inch deeper on a certain target that someone else got because their ground has less mineral or they KNEW their detector etc....Probably the latter like You said!

It like Jbow say's....for him the T2 is the best...........for me and the way I like to hunt....its the Omega. That's whhy I switched. Both machines are quite awesome for the money..........Ronk.........your advice is solid.....too bad most detectorists swap machines instead of learning what they have. Every decent detector has a learning curve and downsides.........if one really puts the effort into learning a machine and it isn't to their liking.....then by all means, try a new detector.

I had considered an 8000, but since I plan to use the new T2 primarily for relics, I chose that one. I have a couple of White's 6000's for coins and such.
