Who has replaced their T2 with an Omega ?

Two different detectors and not sure you could replace one with the other. I've used both and the Omega is a fine coin machine and the T2 is a fine relic machine.

Omegas are awesome coin machines. T2 are deep relic machines. Both donallot of things well but omega is the new kid on the block.

Relics and or Coins. A little practice using the T2, and anyone would be amazed at the results......................
I'm sure the Omega is a fine machine ! But is it in the same league as the T2 ?.

I haven't had a T 2 now for a couple of years and as already been mentioned, the Omega and T 2 are really two different units. Although, both in fact, will hunt coins and relics good, the Omega is better on coins and the T 2 would be my choice for relics. In MHO, if the Omega had a couple inches more depth on dime size coins it would rival the top on the line coin detectors from any brand and at several hundred dollars in price less. For coin shooting, it is a pure delight and leaves little question on when to dig. Again, IMHO. HH jim m

I've had the T2 and it's a great machine. But I only had one and now I came back to a Omega and it's the secound one. I regret ever getting rid of the first and that to me says enough. And I coin shoot and that's about it. I found that the Omega is better for coin shooting than the T2 and my coin count with them is better than with the T2. It might be the spots I used them in but I think the Omega is a tad better on coins. HH and Happy Trails , Woodstock

Since I started using my O8 my coin count has gone up big time.I owned a few machines in my time this is the best on coins.Depth isn't bad either.

Not sure if the T2 users had dud machines or what but I have the T2 and would have to say it is a fine coin hunter, I have found more coins with it and in places where I have hunted with 3 other big dog machines and the T2 will surprise you every time.
You have to know the machine and listen to what it tells you a bit more talkative than some others but very sensitive.I will have to say it is fun when you dig a silver signal and start pulling out nails and then BAM silver not very many machines will do that.So I would say if you are coin and relic hunting around old home's the T2 would be your machine.

I've had a White's MXT Pro since last October and, overall, have been pleased with the machine. I've hunted old farm/homesteads, CW battlefields, etc and found some decent relics, some wheaties, a V-Nickel, and one Indian Head - but no silver yet. I'm still learning the machine. However, I was considering getting the T2 as well, just to add to my arsenal. But all this has me thinking about that Omega as well. I've heard its a killer with relics and coins as well.

All in all there BOTH great machines and I hope to pick up another T2 again someday but for now the Omega is my beast. Maybe next season, but this season belongs to my Omega and it's love for coins. Woodstock

Deep too. very deep in fact.

I don't think any of us are implying that the T 2 isn't a good coin hunter. It certainly was for me, anyway, and there is no question that it is deep. I do feel, though, that the Omega does lock on coin targets better and ultimately leaves little doubt that a coin is a coin. I find with the higher working frequencies of the T 2 and F 75 and F 75 LTD that it is more of a guessing game on deeper coins as to whether they are silver or even perhaps, something else. Quite a bit more often then not, I can call a silver coin with the Omega more so then I could with the T 2, F 75 and my now, LTD. That is my bases for considering the Omega to be a "pure coin shooter." However, it is "no biggie," one way or the other as most of us are going to dig iffy targets. The Omega, IMHO, just makes some less iffy. My 2 cents, for what that's worth. HH jim tn

I owned the T2. Elton is correct. That bugger goes deep. And it is a good/excellent coinshooter. However, as Jim points out, the Omega has a more stable coin ID system. It was designed for that. The T2 wasn't designed 'primarily' as a coinshooter. My beef with the T2 was threefold:
1. too many iron falses sounding like coin tones. Each needed to be verified. This slowed me down.
2. a bit too much number variance in target ID's...especially on deeper targets.
3. too sensitive to EMI....although so is the Omega under the same circumstances......just not as bad as the T2. I am primarily a urban coinshooter.

I was a 20+ year White's user.........the Omega acts more like a well designed White's machine..........except better in many ways. So....I made the switch.

Plus the service I have gotten from First Texas on multiple occasions for service/additional purchases has been stellar.........and that's no exaggeration.

Thanks fellas - I'm primarily a relic hunter, but need something that will sniff out the coins too - sounds like the T2 is still the way to go for me.

Then the T2 is the way to go. Have you considered the T2 SE..............it really rocks for your purposes. Costs a bit more though. Maybe the forum sponsor can make you a great deal.

but a friend of mine bought one of the first T-2's,,,He is a coin hunter and hunts in town, at schools and parks.
EMI bothered it bad. It was so bad, that it would knock the settings off, and put it back into factory re sets. Nothing could be done to settle it down.
I tried it at a school, and it was the worst unit that i ever used because of the EMI,, and that was at a school......
I don't think it had any of the changes, so it was a first one back when they first came out.
Maybe my friends unit was bad, we just thought that was the way they were...
I think they may have fixed this problem. Hope so.
But when a unit is new, you just don't think there is a problem with a new unit...
So tell me they fixed this problem, please..
