Whites SST

Hi Jim,

Thanks for sharing your experiences with the SST, Still have mine not getting out as much as I'd like in fact hardy all maybe an hour or two a month due to work. But first chance I get on vacation going to use the SST again, And I agree can't run gain too high in bad ground but out in cleaner areas and good soil can run full gain which enhances the tiniest of finds.

I may spring for the smaller coil as you did, Been hearing good things about the coil.

Take care,
Paul (Ca)

Hey Paul,

Glad you still have the SST I hope you got a nice vacation planned and can have some R-n-R soon!
Just learned though if your in a area free or with very few hot rocks and you get a solid -95 hot rock it should be checked with this machine. Seems some forign coins are hitting as hot rocks??

Be Well
Jim

Hi Jim,

We have hot rocks in my area of central Calif, Allot more up in the hills but down in the valley we have them as well. Have a few samples collected from various places, Here's a pic of one just scanned in the back yard, VDI -95 Hot Rock and it grunts like a hot rock.

Most likely the foreign coins that hit -95 have some ferrous in them? I suppose that would be the reason they hit as a hot rock, Next time I get a hot rock signal in a clean area or even an old site maybe it'll be worth the effort to dig these signals never know may find a good target instead of hot rock :)

Thanks for the tip Jim, Appreciate all info every bit helps. On another note, Been hearing good things about the smaller 6X8" coil. Was thinking on selling my SST but going to keep her and may get the SEF 6X8" coil for the SST for gold jewelry hunting, That's were I like the SST the most.

Thanks again,
Paul (Ca)
