Whites new detector

I just noticed tonight that whites added a new detector into there line up on there web page . I read the manual and it looks like a nice detector with some new features added to the coinmaster detector . I hadn't heard any on line chatter about this new one till saw it on web page tonight . Anyone out there heard much about this one its called a coinmaster GT .

Not really what I was hoping for in a new detector from Whites, but I'm sure someone will enjoy it!

It looks to be a Prism 6T minus the beach mode and Trac lock. The price looks very nice.

Yes, this really DOES look like a good detector. Unfortunately
there are only two coils that work with the GT. I have been
considering the GT but the Teknetic Delta 4000 is almost identical
and there are more coils available.

Well, not quite identical: The White GT has auto ground balance, back light,
and VCO pinpointing. The Delta GB is preset but has an easy Pinpoint not VCO but good.

Also there are NEL Russian coils at Ebay (expensive) that will work with
the Coinmaster and the Delta's.

Oh decisions decisions!

whites has 4 coils that will work on the coinmasters the 4x6 te older 8 inch prizm coils, the standard sypder coil and there is a 950 coil available, also a great feature for the price on the GT is VDI numbers and longer battery life for the money it would be a hard one to beat.

I'm not sure what you were hoping for, but I feel the bulk of their detector line-up is solid.

The V3i has progressed through refinements to be the best top-end offering on the market, and can easily remain in that series for years. The same goes for the VX3 which is the model I selected to replace the XLT in my personal detector battery.

Then there's the MXT Pro which is my #1 go-to detector, armed with the 6

they got an advance notice of the new items (Coin GT detector and Pro Star and Star[sup]lite[/sup] headphones) and Holiday (Christmas in my book) Specials.

I wanted to be sure what the CoinGT offered in performance so I drove down to White's last Friday to check it out and fill a decent order of detectors and accessories for the 'Holiday' season. I was/am very impressed with this model to fill a needed gap at the $399.95 price point. Basically, it is a slightly stripped-down Prizm 6T, but not 'stripped' enough to be naked. It's still a 'well dressed' detector for the dollar, to be sure.

How good? It has replaced a model or two on my personal detector arsenal due to the features and performance.

Good points Monte, as always. I can understand Whites' focus to cover the market as thoroughly as possible. As for a low-mid level detector, I'm sure the GT will fill the niche. My way of thinking is that for $400 I would purchase a used MXT. It's a solid all around detector and excellent with the 5.3 shooter coil. On a side note, the Vx3 is my go to machine for dirt huntin'. I think Whites did an awesome job with the Spectra series.. I was hoping for an updated version including some common suggestions such as water resistance, reverse modulation, etc.... Time will tell!

Actully, I think the minds that worked on that decision and MSRP almost out-did themselves! For what it is and what it offers, the CoinGT is going to reflect some impressive sales in the coming year. That's my prediction, and it is also based on the fact that I have a hand on the pulse of many hobbyists and they just can't afford, or even want, a more featured, higher-dollar model.

Yes, a used MXT can be had for about the suggested retail of the CoinGT. But, that's a USED MXT. I am sure that in the future there will be a IUSED CoinGT for a bargain used price.

Also, there are things that the 'standard' MXT has that the CoinGT doesn't, but I moved on to the MXT Pro, and have sold only MXT Pro's. I haven't been asked about a 'standard' MXT, and don't even have one in my inventory. The MXT Pro adds Tone ID and Back-light over the MXT, and these are two features on the CoinGT.

I really enjoy my VX3 for 'cruising' or, as you say, "dirt huntin'". I don't enjoy being wet, but living here in NW Oregon we do get our share of it come fall and winter. I try to stay out of the rain, but when it catches me, I haven't had any troubles with ANY of my Whites detectors.

Adding some new features would also likely bump the suggested retail; up and, with today's economy, and the way it's been for a few years, lower-to-mid priced detectors have the greatest draw. A serious 'plus' to the CoinGT's entry.

Monet, Did you get to use the GT, at all ? I was thinking about getting the wife one. Is it light, can it be short, dose it get good depth? You know, all that stuff. She has been using my MXT, and said it was to heavier. Thanks for any info. Flintstone

I've given a lot of thought to the new Gt. I had the MXT but sold it a couple years later.
More detector than I needed and HEAVY! But still, the MXT is a good detector if you need
that much power.

I believe that this one will be a winner with the features it has and especially with the price of under 400 bucks. I want one myself just because of the ground tracking, light and very large VDI number readout. That is one thing I really like about Whites machines is that their VDI numbers are the same across the board. Minelab(this may offend some minelab users but not trying to) have several different units with explorers, safari, and xterras and all of them have different ferrous and non ferrous numbers and the xterras have a different system than the other explorers and so non of them can be cross referenced when it comes to target number references on coins and such. That is why I like the VDI on Whites the best because they are consistant across all of their line up. HH, Tim

I did not know whites had this new detector till I saw this thread. unfortunately I just got two new machines.I haven't owned a new whites in a while. But I think I might have one coming a GT LOL!

Whites should note the ToneID feature better in the highlights. I would have not known it had TID had I not looked at the display. That, IMO, makes it about the best value in detectors these days for the dollar, backlight and all...makes my used $400 M6 look lame. Wonder what the dealer prices will be like? martin

Martin you can rest assured that the M6 is still a better, deeper machine. The GT is a slightly stripped down 6T and although it will be a nice, light machine, it will not replace your M6. As a former 6T user, I was excited to see the GT to come out and it will definitely be a good detector and a great seller in it's price range.

I think this machine will be a good seller because of all the features for the price. I had a 6T and was pleased with the depth especially with the 4x6 coil. The features on it work great. MY only knock on the 6T was it was very hot around metal structures and playground equipment. I hunt mainly for on land jewelry and I use the M6 today. CG

I'll report in this afternoon when I am back.

Monte

PS: It's Monte, Monet :wiggle:

Hi Monte, I spell backwards sometimes don,t know why, i know what i am spelling but still put letters in wrong pace. The Classic ID, i had to send back, the trigger didn,t work. I think the spring was broken. and would go blank when pinpointing. I now have a Whites 6000 PRO on its way. It looked like new and just came back from Whites. Now will need help with it. Maybe you could give me some pointers on it . Sorry about your name spelling, will try to think better next time. Flintstone
