Whites MXT Tracker E-series Eclipse 950 Metal Detector

I picked this unit. up ( WHITES MXT) dirt cheap, and I ended up getting a Whites TRX with it for free!

Anyway I heard you can damage it, if the gain is up to high. Any truth to this? Can it be damaged if you overload the coin

Never heard of such a thing, nor did that ever happen to me in my mxt years, and I kept her cranked. Just so happens my buddy just came across the 9.5 eclipse coil he had pulled off his which he no longer owns, if you have any interest. White's product is hard to get these days and the coil is in great condition.

I run my Whites units wide open, if the EMI is no issue. I say, "No, you can't damage it."

That 9.5 is Sweet and Very Accurate as it was designed as the Primary coil for the MXT.
When it locks on,, numbers solid,, confidence blocks full.
You can bet 90% of the time it's exactly what it says.
Though for my trashy trashed areas I love the 5×10.

The MXT is a good unit and I liked mine from introduction, however I prefer the MXT Pro's added functions.
No, you won't damage the coil or the detector with a high Sensitivity/Gain setting. I always ran mine at or near maximum unless I was dealing with EMI.

The 950 Concentric coil was good for open-area search3s with minimal trash, such as a beach, plowed field or wide-open grassy park, etc. My preference for the less-trashy places was their spoked 9" Concentric. In trashier environments I preferred the 6½" Concentric, they called the 5.3 Eclipse. which was the coil I left mounted full-time because I favor smaller-size coils and generally work trashier, brushier environments.

Put in the time to learn the MXT and, depending on what other units you use or favor, I think you might like it.

Interesting. Both the Deus II and CTX3030 have their strong and weak points, and it especially matters the types of detecting you do, what you are after, and then environment you like to hunt in.

As for hand-held Pinpointers, I had the TRX from its introduction. I liked it, at first, but at times I was sl a o frustrated with it and moved on to Pinpoibters I preferred. No different than detectors, some of us like units that others don't.

Hi Wall, I have alot of dirt that i will give you for the MXT. I got one when they first came out in the 80's and still hunt with it. I love that thing. If you don't like it let me know and i will buy it from you. Flintstone

It's a pain shipping that stuff! I have not even tried it yet.. I have the CTX3030 and Deus 2, and I don't even get time to use the Nokta Legend I purchased. I only have 2 hands.

I have an extra coil for it, It will be interesting to see how it compares to the "New Cutting Edge" detectors.. from my perspective ( Minus the You tube hyped video's)

Im spending all my time learning the Deus2 and the CTX 3030. Everyone has opinions, what I might like about a detector, you might not like.
