Was thinking of selling my White's Eagle Spectrum as I have bought a new detector and have another one as well so running out of room. So I went online to see what the Spectrum would be selling for now and can't find any information at all on my particular machine. Mine is different in that the control box is not mounted on the shaft but in a cordura case that you wear over your shoulder or round your neck. It means the machine is very light in use and you can detect all day no problem. Does this Spectrum have another name?

White's Eagle Spectrum

This is the 'Jimmy Sierra' edition. I had one back in the day. True...lighter to use,but you'd better have those straps tight around your shoulders and chest. Especially when kneeling or getting down to dig. I really like the Eagle series of metal detectors. I currently own two Eagle II SL 90 units. One used,the other a cream puff that looks like it was never used. No matter what anybody says...I feel the 90 or 90.5 were the deepest due to manual signal balance adjustment and simple digital format that didn't require more powered circuitry.
I thought the word Sierra came into it somewhere. I used to use it with the strap over my right shoulder and the control unit down my left side as I found that the most comfortable. Yes the Eagle II SL was a great machine too as I had one of those before I upgraded to this one. I started out with one of the old C-Scope detectors with the shepherds crook type handle. I hated that thing and used to look with envy at the American market where they had hip mount units. So I basically took it apart made a note of what I needed and bought all the parts from an electronic store in Belfast. Then after a days work cutting, screwing and rewiring I ended up with a hip mount detector which I used for a while. I was writing the odd article for Treasure Hunting and Metal Detecting magazines at the time and I think I wrote an article about the conversion and sold plans to anyone interested in doing the same. I made a bit of money from that plus what I got for the articles I was writing and used that to buy a Tersoro Golden Sabre which I think was a fantastic machine for it's time. It was I believe the first detector to feature notch discrimination which was brilliant. After a lot of years I was looking for a change and moved to Whites. Forget the first one I bought but quickly moved onto the Eagle II SL and then after some years to this Eagle Spectrum Jimmy Sierra edition. Been using it for a long time now without any problems apart from the usual battery pack issues. Next to come along was the Minelab E-Trac which was another really good detector but I always found myself picking up the trusty old Spectrum as my first choice. Now at 67 I have decided to try something totally different and have an XP Deus II on the way. Hopefully the learning curve won't take me too long! Anyway thanks for the reply. As I said I thought the word Sierra was connected to it some way but even now running a search I can't find a mention of it anywhere. Starting to think I have something rare!
