Whites Beach Hunter ID

It sounds like something is wrong with the unit.
White's has outstanding service and you should send it in for a full checkup!

The super 12" coil is hot and you have to run the sensitivity a little lower than on the 9.5" coil setup.

Just run it in "all metal" and dig the yellow lights and listen for the deep whispers........hits hard on the gold stuff!!!

I've made some of my best finds with the 300 and will always have this machine around!!!

Old post I see....But I think this BHID Detector works well on clay ground also. I live 21/2 hrs away from the beach and have started finding things my other detectors have missed.

I am new to this forum... But have learned a lot from reading some of these posts. I too am thinking about the White's ID... Possibly the non-300 version for the smaller standard coil that might be easier for a 5' girl to use. (I think I would figure something out re: floating coil issue). However, while reading some old posts... Someone said something about the AT Pro. I was recently given a White's M6 and have really enjoyed selecting my targets to dig. I seem to have improved my game from when I used the Shadow 5. Not a bad machine... But, I am much more successful with the M6. Anyway, I only mention that because I think I would benefit from a water detector that has some visual clues. I am sure some of you are laughing... Saying, "rookie"... Ha ha But, hey... detecting time is always valuable and the goal is to find as much as you can with limited time! For now this is working for me.

I am in the Puget Sound, Seattle area and could use an underwater machine in salt water and in freshwater lakes and rivers. I don't plan to go any deeper than 10' water... So, what do you think?

Thanks,
Dreamurs

I've had both the White's Beach Hunter ID and the Garrett Sea Hunter Mark II. I preferred the Garrett. I felt the Whites 3 LEDs did not consistently provide the same analysis of the target. Recommend belt mounting the Garrett control box. Best to dig everything. I had a M6 for over 2 years and loved it. Current machine is the the XP Deus.

I use the Minelab Excalibur II for all my water hunting. . Love the machine. It has paid for itself multiple times over the past almost two years. It discriminates out most iron and steel and I dig EVERYTHING else. Yes I do dig some trash but I also dig some very nice targets. Its waterproof to 200 feet so I don't have to worry about getting it damaged when a rogue wave knocks me on by backside as happens from time to time when I am not paying attention.

Be careful George! As a diver I know about them rouge waves - been knocked down a couple times myself - not fun! Kitted out for New England diving I'm weighing in at 345 lbs so getting up can be a challenge! I guess if all you got is a detector then you might have an advantage if you can hold your breath! :yikes:

Pete I qualified as a Scuba Diver back in the 70's. At that time I could breath hold down to 40-45 feet and pick up an item off the bottom. Of course I have aged just a teeny bit since then. Gave up Scuba when I came back to the states in 76. Just could not enjoy diving when I could not see more than three feet on a good day. If necessary I would ditch the detector as it can be replaced. My wife might not want to replace me. At least I dont think she would after 51 years.

Our vis is a little better up this way. 15 to 20 is typical, under 10 is poor and a couple times I've seen over 30 but that tends to happen in the winter time when only the dry suit crazies are goin' out. Our big bugga-boo is temperature. If you start your season late May or early June, expect bottom temps around 40F. This past Sunday my buddy got a reading on his computer of 38F at 39' depth . . . I thought it felt chilly! :yikes: By late season (Sept or Oct) the water has warmed up to the 50-55F range which is quite comfy in a 7mm suit.

I guess you could let go of the detector and grab it after you've regained your footing and upright posture . . . if it wasn't water-tight you wouldn't have it in the surf to begin with - right?

Those breath-hold dives you did are impressive. I've never been too comfortable clearing my ears past 10 or 12 feet on a breath-hold - sometimes it just takes too long and I use up my air just trying to do that. In scuba I can take all the time I need.

Hi On page 1 of this topic Jackalope mentions the gobble gobble super tune for the BHID. Does anyone know what that is and have instructions on how to do it? Thanks
