Which one do you think would work better at cellar hole digging for nonferrous objects? Gold Bug SE or Omaga 8000 ?

For non-ferrous my choice would be the Omega 8000. For digging everything I say the GB SE.

:surprised:LMAO. I took it out in my back yard with the 11 inch coil. OMG, I couldn't walk 2 inches without getting a hit! This is one hot detector

The jury's still out for me on the SE. I think it's a fine detector, but I've had the Omega since it came out, and for the SE to outperform it is a tall order. Gotta spend more time with the SE.

Hi Frank

You have access to both models. Why not do a comparison of the operational characteristics between them both in your hunting environments ? :) :)

I do believe you will find the Gold Bug SE will do better in the iron & trash.

You probably wouldn't get rich but I bet you would sell more than a few.

than you think. I was told that there are electronics in the coil similar to a Sov which is why Fisher used a really oddball coil wire on the GBSE Coils. It has one shielded cable and 3 individual wires in it. I was going to make an extension coil wire so that I could try it lake hunting but have not been able to find a similar coil wire. It uses the same connectors as the Minelab Explorer series which I have plenty of including inline connectors so making the extension would have been a snap. Tried to get Fisher to make me a coil with a longer wire but they said no. So I am still looking for a shore piece of the coil wire. I am almost tempted to just cut the wire off the 5" coil and add an inline connector and be done with it but don't want to ruin a coil until I see how well the machine works in the lakes.

Should be the same wire in all the Tek and Fisher F series coils? If so maybe someone has a bum coil they can sell dirt cheap. With all the bad coils that I have seen on the F series someone has to have a bad coil.?

performance out of the 5x10 that the 11" Bi-Axial allow's...If first texas didnt have that coil to offer on there machine's they would be less user's I am sure of that...maybe a extension cable is in order ?

Till we get some new technology in detector's I believe the coil design is the most important aspect of making or breaking a machine...Heck that 5x10 DD changed the whole X-5 in my dirt..

LOL :) I asked the Dealer that I bought my GBSE from if he would ask them. He said he would but I have not heard anything back from him yet. I hope that they will but I am not holding my breath :) I can understand them not wanting to make a special coil with a longer wire as First Texas is a big company and I am sure once they set up their assembly line to make a coil with a certain length wire it is probably a major pain in the butt for them to change it to make a different length for just a few coils. When Troy came out with the X-5 and I saw how good it was for small gold I asked him the same question. Being a smaller company and building things on a much smaller scale he was able to say yes and made me and several other people coils with a longer coil wire so that we could shallow water hunt with his detector.

As far as bad coils laying around I would think that most coils that were bad or went bad were probably under warranty and people had to send them back to Fisher or Teknetics to get the replacement coil.

Thanks
