Which depths are best to hunt ocean?

I am on the Gulf in Destin, FL, not finding much with two great machines-no jewelry! Water's edge, dry sand, knee deep, waist deep, or where is most productive for you guys who actually find rings and things? Thanks!

I try to get out to the beach at high tide and see where the people are at in the water, swimming, playing, and splashing around, i watch the moms playing with there kids,(non chalontly) i then go back at low tide and hunt the water where they were hanging out earlier at high tide, once i start finding quarters i will hunt that area hard, as far as a depth goes, it varies, i found that the quarters and gold tend to be in the same area.

From following a good friends advice that has the gold/jewelry to back it up along with Andy Sabisch. You need to be at the beach 2 hours before low tide and detect from the edge of the dry sand to the water until you find the clad coins, then change directions and hunt parallel with the water going up or down the beach. If the jewelry is there you should get it. DIG IT ALL. If you have an under water machine then ankle to chest deep.

I started to respond yesterday but my computer froze up.

The only thing I can add to all of the great advice is:

I'm coming out there in 7 days. Don't find it all!

I'm arriving Saturday and will stay through the following Saturday so I'll have plenty of days to hunt. If you're there during that time, perhaps we'll run into each other. I swing a BHID 300 on a straight black shaft. My brother will be swinging my other BHID 300 except on a straight blue shaft.

I have to agree with all of the above...But
I hunted the Gulf side a few times never have much luck there..Just this year my first gold....waist to chest deep on that find, and the only reason I was there was because the year before I scoped out the beach , watched 2 hunters in the same area, and it is where the people were hanging... Really as far as I know , the Best Pirate on the Gulf..........Ron Lord..think he is in Naples..he is on this forum, junklord? He is the one to ask ....Obn

I'll be at the Gulfview condo's from the 18 to the 25th. Also swinging a BH300. Looks like there will be nothing left for me!

Anyone going to Destin can rest assured that I didn't get everything, and in fact, got hardly anything. My CZ20 sprung a leak, probably through the gasket seal, and the battery compartment could NOT be tightened enough to stop the leak. So, considering the rough sea which pounded me and the detector problem, I only searched the sand. Only found modern clad...bummer. I have a new Detector Pro Diver coming (Wader model, except the Diver goes to 100 feet depth rating). I'll order a new gasket for the CZ20 and it will probably be fine-NEXT time. But the DP should prove to be a lot less hassle in the water. HH everyone.

I have a question for you guys---is the bhid 300 coil alot better than the previous standard coil 9.5
