Yeah they really like to play those word games in their advertisements and confuse the hell out of the end user. 
A lot of this lingo is confusing enough for most newbies and even users with considerable time in, withouit thjrowing a trio of mumbo jumbo at them. I guess automatic sounds more exotic than fixed or preset.
