When Pro is Unstable I can run Higher Sensitivity in Std, is that Good or Bad

Any word on your machine yet? Have noticed that alot with mine as well and been watching this thread. Dont know if the frozen gound, all the ice and snow have something to do with it but alot of times if I just bump the snow it sounds off a medium tone usually, sometimes a low grunt or mixed even. Albeit the 2 areas that actually show soil that we can hunt right now are littered with trash so I am waiting for nicer weather and more places to try it out to see. Just hope I dont wait til nice weather only to have to send it in and miss the first real stretch of good sunshine and thawed earth.

Myra, at Garrett, left me a msg letting me know it shipped out today. I plan to call them tomorrow and ask what they found and how they fixed it. The proof will be giving it a good workout next week. More to follow.

Got my ATP with both coils back from Garrett and the only thing documented is that they replaced the speaker.

Took it out on a couple different hunts and there is no difference. It is very chatty in Pro mode with only a 4 bars of sensitivity and only quiets down when switching to Std modes. The homes with a few inches of top soil sound a little better than the non top soil areas like old home sites, boat ramps and camp sites but they're still chatty.

When operating in any other mode than Pro Zero it is real scratchy as if mineralization, discriminated iron, and discriminated non-ferrous targets are bleeding through. When in Pro Zero I hear everything clearer, scratchy goes away, but the the feedback is to much; can't tell the falsing from ferrous and non ferrous targets. When operating in any Std Mode all of the feedback goes away unless operating in max sensitivity but I also know depth suffers... air tests with the 5x8 shows about 1.5" less (4.25-5.25") in anything other than max

In contrast I can run my Tesoro Outlaw on Max sensitivity and discrimination just above iron and I all I hear is a few ticks now and again and the non-discriminated targets.

As much as I hate to say it I think the ATP will not work to the Standards expected of this machine in my local area and I need to let it go.... unless of course anyone else has another idea.
