When is a Junk Tungsten Carbide Ring NOT Junk...When it has diamonds in it.

Dug up this junk tungsten carbide ring about a week ago, I got to looking at the stones in it and thought to myself, "boy those stones look good, but who would put real diamonds in a junk ring". Well someone did, because when I put the diamond tester on it - to my amazement - they checked real!!!

Not huge stones, but not tiny either. Then I got to thinking, "didn't I find another one of these Junk tungsten carbide rings awhile back?"

After digging through the junk ring container I pull out the other junk ring and put the diamond tester on it....."beep"!, It said. "What?", I said.

Moral of this story, Check those junk Tungsten carbide rings for real diamond, You might just be surprised!!!

I hate to rain on your parade fellow hunter, but have you looked at the diamond market lately?

Perceived value is one thing Friend, but actual value is what puts money in your pocket!

GL&HH Friend,

CJ

It's hard to sell small diamonds.........best to get them remade into something special for your sweetie. Jewelers generally are not interested unless they are at least a karat each.

i asked a jewery store what he could get the small diamonds for and his answer was 12.00 a peice, still a nice thing to know might sell it on ebay for a nice price

Actually tungsten carbide is heavier than gold ... and I personally don't consider them junk (I get enough junk rings as it is).

And titanium is getting popular for rings (my glasses have a titanium frame) and not junk in my humble opinion.

CONGRATS on the find ... the diamonds are neat!

NICE. Or when they are designed by Trent West with 22K gold. Retail is $660. I don't see it myself, I think having the diamonds is much nicer...if I was going to wear Tungsten. I found this ring in Hawaii last summer. Congrats.

That's nice man. Even the solid ones with no stones can go for $200. I found one with one single diamond in it that was the size of a turntable needle and thought THAT was odd, to have that tiny stone in it...to have a diamond in it at all. Yours is without a doubt the grandaddy of Tungsten Carbide rings I have ever seen. Very unique.

who will buy them from you ? your friends..............no way................jewerly store............good luck.

your friends have to buy from a store with a reputation and a name.

better off just saving them all and make something fancy out of them all after u get a big pile of stones....................

A jeweler friend assures me that he is sitting on a large fortune in diamonds, but that unless the piece is truly exceptional, there are no buyers and even those exceptional pieces are selling very poorly!

The investments of so many wealthy people have disappeared that many are trying to recover some of their money spent on jewels and are finding that the market is dead!

Signs of the times,

CJ

PS
I must say though that those are some of the nicest looking rings ever and they will never wear out!

hi, i found one of these tungsten rings a few weeks ago and have looked into them - i don't want to rain on your parade but they are for sale in the uk for $20 even with inlaid gold and a diamond, well they are not diamonds as a real diamond would have a rear light hole where the stone is set as you can see in your pics they don't have, even if they were diamonds they would be industrial ones worth perhaps $1 each. i have seen cobalt rings for $10 and titanium for $10 its a shame they are so nice, meaning no one is buying silver now and even gold is been replaced by these rings. don't get me wrong they are nice rings but every time i dig one i think that a few yrs ago it would of been silver or gold, as mentioned tungsten high density so if you are finding them you are in the right zone. if you are doubting the low cost just look up www.argos.co.uk in the uk and check them out.

Dude...that's pretty badass too!

To me, gold bands, diamond rings, chains, etc. are fine. But a lot of those things are pretty "mundane" and often quite similar. It's the really unique finds like that one you pictured that you just don't see everyday. I like those things.

That said, I like the things you can MELT that bring the big bucks. So gold takes a front seat to everything but PLATINUM. But in the absence of gold, I'll take that titanium ring any day. Very nice...congrats. :clapping:

>>> who will buy them from you ? your friends..............no way................jewerly store............good luck. <<<

Agreed...it's just like those folks that say "you can get more for your gold on eBay than from Midwest..." Yeah, good luck with THAT. If you're a fool enough to buy gold from somebody on eBay and pay anything NEAR "spot" price for it then have at it. If you can't SEE it, TOUCH it, and TEST it, it's pretty much an act of faith. Rather, I agree with you that in such a case it is best to do as you say and have something MADE.

Prime example is when I found a 24 diamond anniversary ring a few years ago that was missing two diamonds. I went to a jeweler and he said that I had "about $2200 worth of diamonds there, BUT..." And the "but" was that out of the 22 diamonds that were still there, there were several that were loose in the setting and prone to further loss. He suggested that I have him custom-make a ring using the 22 diamonds. So my wife and I agreed to the making of a "cocktail ring". We picked out a 14K setting that would fit the 22 diamonds. A week later we went to pick it up. It was a moderate-to-heavy 14K setting, very nice, and all 22 diamonds were integrated into it. It was made, sized, and placed in a nice ring box. We picked it up and slid it on her finger and it was a perfect fit and beautiful...she loved it. The cost was $245, TOTAL, including the new ring...sweet, huh?

Well, it gets BETTER....as we were looking at the ring on her finger and marveling on how awesome it was and what a deal it was that we realized that the NEXT day was our 22nd wedding anniversary! I had already planned on that being her PRESENT, but neither of us realized it was our 22nd anniversary and there just happened to be 22 diamonds in the ring. Crazy, huh?
