What's your favorite Tesoro and why?

Thought I'd ask this to kind of get a idea of which Tesoro has the biggest following.
My favorite is my Sidewinder it gets pretty good depth and it likes gold jewelry and coins.

I gotta give it up to the Vaq.
Seems to have great depth with any of my 3 coils and it has found me some great things.
I think my Compadre is a little more fun to use, however, the disc on the Vaq is super sharp, but the disc on my Compadre seems a bit sharper and thumbing the knob the way I do to figure out targets the sharper the better.

I like my Vaquero for the depth it gets out in my farm fields and it has all the controls I need.

For me, its the Deleon hands down.
Had a Cibola, and while its a great machine, I needed more info than it could give me.
I'll never get rid of my Deleon, its just a perfect mix of speed, depth, and target info that I really enjoy.

Yeah, another vote for the Deleon. It's as deep as my non-super-tuned Vaquero was, but the audio is much nicer. It's a killer for finding silver. The screen is a bonus. The Deleon would still be a great machine even without the screen.

I'll have to go with my Vaquero for depth but I do love my Compadre for the simplicity, but then again I never had a Tesoro I didn't like.

Vaquero . Here's why I like it , It's light , well balanced , simple to use , decent depth , able to be manually ground balanced , great discrimination , pleasant tone , uses one 9 volt battery ( which is interchangeable with my pinpointer ) , the battery drop in system itself , length of battery life, placement of controls is good , durable , coil interchangeability , I like the machine gun sounding battery check and if it was stolen I could afford replace it . Another feature I like , if need be the 3-piece breakdown makes for a small package .

My favourite Tesoro machine over here in the UK is the Laser B3 and also the B1 both of these models are based on the Bandido range but adapted by Tesoro for the UK market and one of the machines liked by the old timers, the reason being the superb iron discrimination and excels on our roman and saxon sites, albeit they are not the deepest machines going but they dont miss much and have accounted for many top finds over the years.

Also i use a Silver Sabre 2 as well, but mainly use that with the small 4'' coil for river detecting, one of the all time best machines for the Thames foreshore is the old Tesoro range, folks who do the Thames in and around London only use these older models.

Compadre. For clad and jewelry hunting in parks it is tops in my book.

I like my tejon so far the best, I didn't use the outlaw and compadre that much to give them an honest opinion before I traded them and I hope when the new Deleon arrives it's as good as all the reviews say.

Tejon as well. Had the Vaquero, but I thought the Tejon was deeper, smoother and the dual discriminators was awsome. Tejon hands down for me.

Out all the machines that I have had there is only one machine that I am sorry that I did not keep and that is the Deleon. That machine found a lot of good finds and very easy to use. I ran it with the 5.75" coil. Thanks for reading.....Z

i got a vaquero back in april for my first detector. i did a lot of research on the tesoro's and fisher's. i chose the vaq. not even holding a detector before that. the vaq. was easy to learn and like the warranty. it is all i need and glad i chose it. when i want to upgrade, ill see how this cazador is about. i will more than likely get a tejon.

The Conquistador uMax that I had and shouldn't of sold. I bought it used and had to send it in to Tesoro because the coil had cracks in it. The repaired the coil, tuned it, etc. and sent it back to me and when I got it back it was like a total different machine. It was so much fun to use,it almost pulled coins out of the ground, probably the best nickel hunter I have ever had. I would love to find another one some day really like to get the one I had back.

well its a toss up for me but the vaquero just wins over the golden umax found a lot of silver very light and will handle a lot of thrashings with atvs that most won't, selection of coils that are reasonably priced and lifetime warranty..........now if the cazador has a combo of the vaq and golden it will be a stomper for sure!

The Tesoro Eldorado "Umax" for me. I love this detector and use it for relics, coins and jewelry. It runs smooth in all the conditions I come across, it even does well on wet saltwater beaches, loosing some depth but still sounding off on coins and targets. It is easy to ground balance and the tone really has a language which speaks to me. I always know a good target because it yells at me to dig! There is no mistaking a good target, I find if I ever have any doubt on a tone it usually turns out to be trash. The Discrimination is really good, and I love the no-motion all metal around old foundations and chimney stones for relics and coins. I have a Silver Umax I really like, but the Eldorado and I really click. I want to get a 5.75 coil for it for trashy sites, and using in and around the square nails. I do wish it was a bit better for gold prospecting, I may have to get a Lobo someday to fill that gap.

I would like to try a Deleon. I do not have a VDI machine and would like to see how one runs, although getting your coil over the target and hunting good spots seem to be the real secret.

I have three kids and I have 3 Tesoros. Asking me to choose my favorite Tesoro is like asking me to choose my favorite kid- Not gonna happen. I like them all!

Sidewinder 1
Vaquero 7
Deleon 2
Bandido (laserb1) 1
Compadre 1
Tejon 2
Conquistador 1
Eldorado 1

Looks like the Vaquero is going to be the favorite Tesoro.
