What's your BEST ADVICE????

All good points here... I'd only add two more.

1) Be friendly to onlookers and those curious to what you are doing. Many folks equate metal detectorists with Nut Jobs. Show them that we are outgoing, literate people!

2) Invite a young child to help any time you can. You will make their day!
