What's the smallest sized nugget an MXT can pick up?

6x10" DD, ground reading of 84-86, full hypersat and sensitivity.. 1/3 of a grain, though it had to be pretty close to the coil. Can get even smaller, but really have to listen hard. ...Willy.

I can air test with full-gain a flake of gold.Smaller than this 0 Amazed at how small the gold it can detect. I cant beleave the gmt will hit smaller-crazy-that drive me nuts trying to find a target so small.
I would have to save and pan out.

Question: If the MXT at 14 khz can pick up gold that small then what is the point of the GMT operating at 50khz?

Because the MXT will only barely make a sound on that size of gold and the GMT will sing loudly, and gold that size being worth about $1 it add up quick, I know that if I see a dollar laying on the ground I will pick it up everytime, the same with a 1/3 grain of gold if I can find it I will put it in my poke.

But I also agree when you are only finding grain and subgrain gold it is best to just put the small amount of dirt into a pan and pan out the gold. it's a much faster way to earn that buck or two!!

The GMT can pick up gold as small as 1/10 grain while the MXT can pick up about 3 grain nuggets.

But David, whats the depth on that?, or is that an air test?

Try a 5" excelarator coil.I bet you pick up smaller gold than the coil your using and at better depth. If my mxt was not broken I would do some tests.

About this size O

Hi, I have worked gold claims I used to have near rampart alaska and I assure you the mxt will find down to 0.4 grams, I use my nuggets & pickers to ake jewelry and the nuggets soldered to these 14kt chains are all in the 0.4 grams range

Hi , yes I am sure the mxt will get a 0.2 gram picker, I just didn't find one, all of mine were 0.4 to 27.9 grams while in alaska, now that I am home in smithfield nc I plan to do some detecting where I found my 1st nuggets back in 1980's. Tis is a pic of the 27.9 gram sold jst before christmas for $1,300.00

I never in my life thought I would be so intrigued by a video of doggie poo. But then again........it was Boxer doggie poo. Only a Boxer would do something like that. I love the video and love your dogs. I think we need to hear about your Boxers. :bouncy: From another Boxer lover, Nancy

Sorry, not mine.... just ran across the video and thought it fit. I have a lab/chow cross and she is the smartest dog I have ever owned. Swear I talk normal to her and she understands and obeys everything. Anyone up to going to the EF/San Gabriel river on Friday stop by and say hi. I will be detecting and sluicing for the day at nugget alley. I'll have her with me so added a pic so you can recognize. Will post any finds later.

OK this is strange, why most MXT users have Boxers?

err.. me included

edit: OH! I remember now, they are nice digging tools :please:

The MXT is capable of much more. However the Factory limited the machine's ability by sacraficing sens for a quiet and smooth operation. With the Nevada Bob Mods it comes alive....
