What's the lightest most powerful detector?

UK Brian said:
Red Heat Micro XD-17 is light, kills the detectors mentioned below for performance and has excellent iron see through, which is rare for motion machines.

Is it present in American market? Why everyone buys Whites if there is a better machine available?

Hay Canewrap,

The " Iron ID " switch replaces the frequency adjust switch.

It's a three position switch.

The center possition is off. Off is just like an Eldorado with out
a frequency adjust switch.

The left position is called " Iron Blank ". In this position, the small
iron is desccriminated out. Aluminum and some other stuff will crackel.

In the right position, small iron will have a low tone. Aluminum will have
a low tone with some crackling going on. A pull tab will be a broken
sound between the low tone and the regular tone. The stuff that is higher
conductors will have a regular tone.

It is helpful, but will not out perform the Eldorado. Just a little more convient.

Happy Hunting,

Either the Vaquero, Tejon, or X-Terra 70.....maybe throw in the Lobo ST as well and the Fisher F-75 too...

Also the Minelab Musketeer Advantage. I honestly have been hearing RAVE reviews on its depth by several people.

Quote, "The most powerful VLF detector on the market. The Advantage outperforms other brand's detectors at three times the price!

You will be amazed at the awesome depth...straight out of the box!

Simple. Deep. Fast.

You won't find another VLF detector on the market today that will produce the incredible results of the Musketeer Advantage."

However, my understanding is the Advantage is not light. I would throw in the qualifications of stable operation in most environments (not easily affected by EMI), balanced, and can handle bad ground. That should narrow down the field a bit. With those qualifications thrown in, I'm still looking. I haven't found a detector that incorporates all those functions in to a reasonable weight package. The closest I've been able to come is the XT-70 and I'm still working on finding ways to get a better balance with all the coils I have. That detector is a bit nose heavy with all the weight in front of the user's hand.

Sorry, I was talking about the Minelab Xterra 70. However, I have an F70 as well and I agree with your assessment on its weight and its a pretty decent detector with an excellent balance. However, I am not seeing the incredible depth everybody claims. The depth readout on the machine itself is off by a couple of inches in either direction (at least on my machine and I know of quite a few others that say the same). My wife is the one that usually uses my F70 and right now I'm learning the Xterra 70. However, I am planning on trying it out a couple of times this winter on planned relic hunts to get a better idea of just how strong a detector it is.
