What's The Craziest Thing You Ever Dug Up Metal Detecting.

I was out hunting with a buddy. I get this great signal, dig it up and out comes a 2" square silver jewelry box. And to even compliment it further, it was wrapped with a string of pearls. I called my buddy over, told him that I just found the find of a life time. I pulled the box from my pocket, harrassed him some more with comments like "I wonder what could be in here." So, I slowly unwrapped the string of pearls, opened the lid and inside was a tiny dead frog. The name AXLE had been inscribed on the silver box, so I figured I had dug up AXLE'S Tomb. I threw that box into the woods with AXLE still inside as far as I could. I was pissed! :ranting: What a let down. My buddy laughed so hard that he wet his jeans......

Hi, the most surprising thing I found was a dental prosthesis with three pieces, as was the beach was very clean and I take you to home. Now not to do with it, I do not want to see him among my treasures but I pity the throw it away ... I am condemned to a strange smile When I found it was more than a minute lying on the floor laughin, pussy! is a good window into his mouth ...

Got this nice silver hit behind an old house. Dug up a small wooden box. Inside was the remains of a cat, and a silver medallion. Inscribed, the name Fluffy! I dug up ole Fluffy! After looking around and feeling embarrassed, I replaced the remains. What about the medallion? What would you have done?

Hillarious !!
Jeez, Nothing really stands out for me. But your buddy near wetting himself reminds me of a time....... I was in an early spring sleet storm on the edge of the Boreal forest a few years back. I had several layers of clothes on and had difficulty accessing my cold and turtled ''little buddy''. I thought that everything was free and well aimed only to feel a strange sensation of warmth all down my front. Yup, I wizzed all over myself in that cold blowing field. I had to walk back to the car across a long open field with cars passing by, soaked from crotch to knee.
 :lmfao:

Upnorth! Thats funny right there! I've done that a time or two myself..but I didnt think it funny at the time, mad for a lack of paying attention, yes, but not funny!.

Senda, teeth? Now thats Crazy! Somebody is out in the world eating through a straw!

Dancer, knowing me, I'd a kept the silver, and reburied the cat with all the pomp and ceremony required, said a few words, pocketed the silver,...

Grub, I once found an old tin like that with wheat pennies in it, Yours is way much better!

John, a frog skeleton in a silver box is a new one! That must have been some frog to inspire such a fabulous entombment! maybe he was that singing frog I saw on the cartoons? "Hello my baby, Hello my darlin'"

Tara, A gold tooth is a once in a lifetime find too! I guess one never really knows what the next target might be?

The craziest thing I ever detected was a metal plate in a Viet Nam Vets head. I was hunting an old fairgrounds in Columbus Ga back in the early 90's and noted a fellow walking out towards me. We talked for a few minutes and he told me he had a metal plate in his hear from a war wound and asked if I could detect it. And, I could. The Garrett Master Hunter x I was swinging at the time screamed when I put the coil up near his head.

upnorth, shoot, I can have that problem in the summer time. HH jim tn

I found a nice dental bridge made of gold which held 4 teeth in the swimming waters of Padre Island, Texas. After a year or so of being out of the water it started to dry up and the teeth fell out. Took the bridge to my local dentist and he melted it down. I ended up with a 16kt golden nugget weighing in at 11.38 grams (.4 oz.) and tossed the teeth. My dentist said the gold could still be used for my fillings...but I told him "no thanks".

That was many years ago...wished I would have taken a picture of them but never did.

And speaking of relieving oneself....when mother nature calls, and I am in the woods, I usually lean my detector on the same tree which I stake out my territory. My only comment is that I am glad that the coil is waterproof.

Was woods hunting and got a nice signal, dug it up and it was a cat license when I grabbed it and lifted the whole collar came out I dug up someone's cat grave lol just pushed it back in the hole stepped on it and kept moving did find a 1912 barber dime about 15 ft from there about 20 min later

Was metal detecting and got a good signal under some pine trees at a local park. As I was cutting the plug, I pulled out my digger and there on the end of it was a condom. Not the wrapper, the actual condom!:surprised: The condom wasn't the signal though, and I eventually retrieved it after my laughter.

A couple of years ago in the winter, I got a deep signal in a corn field. I dug a fairly big plug with my shovel and in the plug was a hibernating frog. It was covered with slime and could barely move. After retrieving the target, I carefully returned the plug with the frog back into the hole. I don't recall what the target was but I'll never forget the frog.

Funny you mention that laserfeller. Just a week or so ago woods hunting dug down about 4" and saw about a 5-6" small snake partially curled up in the bottom of the hole. I carefully covered it back up and went on my merry way. HH jim tn

At Hampton Beach last year a week after Easter. I dug up a plastic Easter egg. When I opened it, I figured why the detector found it, foil wrapped Hershey Kiss inside. Artie

Dug a ladies swastica ring up a couple of weeks ago. After cleaning it , turned out to be silver with Greda engraved in it , in very old script. Maker mark stamps too worn to read. Just hope it was made from new silver, not recycled if you know what I mean. Creepy

Well I was Civil War relic hunting and got a good sounding signal dug down a couple inches and up pops a arrowhead, I was a little confused at first till I found a big rusty bolt right beside it.
