What's The Bset Machine For Beach & Water Hunting ?

Probably not the best detector for the wet sand although one can dial them in for better performance! On the dry sand it works great.
Excalibur is my choice for the wet and dry sand
Best of Luck!

Other than the garrett AT Pro, what other mid range or lower detectors can be used on saltwater sand? My interest are rings at about 4 inch depth?

So sorry no one seems to be able to stay on topic long enough to answer your question.
I've used the Excal both the older sword style and the Excal 2 with a great deal of success.
If you are serious about detecting the beach, first get the Excal 2
then the White's Surf PI. You''ll need it when the beach is giving the Excal trouble.

I wont say AT-PRO.

I would say Beach hunter 300. On land and in both fresh and salt water. great unit which most people don't talk much about. Mostly because of price.

Hard to beat as far as simplicity and its a dual frequency beast of a unit.

I think you nailed it landman. For over 15 years, I've only owned or ever used 2 units on the beach. The excal and the whites surfmaster. Never even thought about buying anything else. Both been berry, berry good to me-:)

I tried the AT Pro, two of them, SC and Fla. beaches. Very happy to get rid of both. I'll stick with my Sea Hunter and dig fish hooks all day.

FL.salt beaches wet or dry sand 1 Soveriegn 2 Safari both Minelab 3 Whites MX5 w/6x10 dd coil Any of these you can take in 18" of water.Dont drop them I have tincan

Thru the years I have had many machines, from vlf to PI machiness. Minelab Excalibur for the water is the best, and most simple machine you can buy.

The only machines that work in the wet salt sand are the Fisher CZ21, Minelab Exalibur, and PI machines. Considering your question, none of those are probably what you want. The CZ21 is built like a tank but is $1500 and the excal needs to modified out of the box so its $1500+ and the PI machines will have you digging pieces of iron 3 ft down. Whites Beach hunter, tesaro tiger shark, and AT Pro are probably better for what you are looking for and are mid range detectors. Keep in mind that they will not really work on the wet salt beaches. They will work in dry sand. Single frequency machines have a lot of problems in wet salt sand. You could always look for an older model fishers cz20 or minelab soverign gt which will work great too and can be found used for great prices.

The Etrax you already have is one of the best wet sand machines you can use! and you already own it!

The Beach Hunter ID is a dual frequency machine that is designed for salt water and beach. I own one and a CZ-20, both the BHID and the CZ-20 work very well in the wet salty sand and go equally deep !
