What's happening at Tesoro?

I doubt you could find the necessery - long obsolete - parts needed to put the old designs back into production.

they are not a public company so they do not have to share profit loss etc..

Tesoro are still in business and probably always will be , and their lack of understanding of modern tech internet etc.. is in the knobs and switches era , operator please connect me to Tesoro or if you cant get them I would like to send a telegram

please instruct owner stop that knobs and switches stop are going to still be around in 50 years stop and also that this year is 2016 stop.

Yes that is true Lytle Rick, the great thing about Tesoro is this true statement "they can keep the great oldies like the Bandido series and Toltecs going with their excellent service dept."

This dumb EDIT program on here, I wanted to add another true statement but it timed me out. I don't know how they do it but in the recent past they replaced some IC components on my INCA and got it running tip top and it is at least 30 years old.......

I agree, like Whites, they feel an obligation to retain obselete parts for future repairs. whites has even used (with my approval) salvaged parts to repair a machine of mine.

It's a different thing however to get enough parts to build hundreds or thousands of units (or in the case of First Texas - hundreds of thousands of units).

I like Tesoro and wish them well, but I don't see much positive change on the horizon.

I'm still waiting on anyone to tell me what they want Tesoro to build. An ATPro? F19?

I don't see any reason for Tesoro to build something you can already buy somewhere else.

I'll take knobs over chiclets every day, all day long.

I would like to see a cheaper waterproof box. Maybe no motion pinpointing....

I own two Fishers...so where do I insert a coin in these things to get gum to come out?

lol

Try the F70. I have one too.

Don't you love spending hours clicking on the chiclet buttons rolling around the menus just to switch between all metal and disc or to change the disc or gain setting, when on a Tesoro you can turn a knob and you're done?

I have had a Whites V3i and a VX3 and I sold both of them. I got so darn frustrated with trying to figure out all of the menus and different settings. I was never sure when I changed something if I was making it better or worse. With my Tesoros and my Whites MXT Pro all I need to do is adjust a few knobs and a couple of switches and I am ready to go. I have found more with my Tesoros and MXT than I ever did with the V3i and VX3 put together. One thing I have figured out is that you can never really know what the target is until you dig it up and look at it. I believe that with the V3i and the VX3, I was relying too much on the information on the screen and I passed over some good targets that I should have dug. So, I'll take knobs and switches over complicated menus and settings every time. I like my Tesoros just the way they are.

Hours?
Caught in a time warp?
Seconds to set up, seconds to change, program 1 is disc and program 2 is all metal so press the menu button and .3756 seconds to switch between them.
I thumb the knob on my Tesoros on every target, I do change and experiment with different settings all the time on my F70 but the time spent setting each up is quick, comparable and nominal...really.

I was not making fun of Tesoro's detectors , I was making fun of Tesoro , now disconnect your emotions and see there is a difference I didn't buy Tesoro I bought a Tesoro.

not sure why people can not separate the 2 things from any company??

and everyone is right and I been saying it for years they have nowhere to go only so many ways you can arrange knobs and switches.

Just a simple question, what is it Tesoro is suppose to do? Seems the only solid complaint I can nail down from everyone on this thread is that Tesoso quit social media, screwed you on shipping, and isn't producing a cheap Bounty Hunter clone.

It would be nice to have a company excited about their customers enough to entertain us with what's going on in the Tesoro World, like Garrett does with their quarterly newsletter,
facebook page. Tesoro owners could submit tips and tricks, finds, stories from Tesoro owners around the world....................

There's really no excitement using a Tesoro, its like using another wrench in the toolbox. Tesoro, could change that and bring Tesoro together into a happy community and make them super fun to use.
Tesoros may not be the deepest kid on the block, most for most us, anything small that can be found within the 0-8" depth range is good enough. Most targets I hunt for are within 6" on average. They do that well.

I fully understand if the passion is lost at Tesoro regarding hobby metal detectors. Maybe the hobby line should be sold to a group that is younger with a lot of passion to revive the brand?

Tesoro doesn't have to go fully digital by the way, you could throw in a mix of knobs and touch pads just like the Teknetics Omega, Fisher F5 and other First Texas products. That way they would be a bit more modern. Probably satisfy those that like knobs, switches and those that like digital.

I guess, who cares what really goes on inside the Tesoro plant and management, that's their problem, it doesn't effect our treasure hunting. Would be more beneficial if Tesoro would share the excitement and camaraderie that the Tesoro detector owners, forum members have amongst each other. Tesoro has gone to the wayside or going there like Detectorpro has..........................

Personally, I think Tesoro screwed up a number of years ago, when it first mentioned a new detector and requested names for it and didn't follow thru.

yep not the same company they were who knows why ??

maybe their money is coming from outside the hobby detectors ?? who knows??

all the other company's even minelab have comps do stuff facebook etc.. to keep people excited and buying their gear and share tips and stuff.

its interesting how nonplussed about the whole thing they are :sadwalk: its like they are depressed kid sitting in the back of the class wondering what to do so they do nothing.

time will tell.

I can't speak for Tesoro but there are numerous people around the globe that don't participate in social media for the most part. As with all things it can be used or abused? I will agree though... that in this "day and age" of operating a business it would seem almost imperative to do so to a degree:shrug:

Sorry, I wasn't trying to criticize you or to be emotional. I really don't care if Tesoro has a newsletter or even if they have a facebook page. I am just having a blast finding stuff with my Tesoros.

They have never been at the forefront of using modern technology or social media to impart information...never.
Their website is archaic and rarely updated and even answering e mails seems to be a hassle for them but like the Luddites they are a simple phone call still works just fine if you need to contact them.
They are not a huge company, I think I read somewhere they only have around 30 people or so, but hard to believe at least one of their employees that is more savvy has not explained the benefits of good communication and the many tools that make it possible and easy.
Still, it is their company, a private company and they can run it any way they want to.
Sure they dropped the ball a few times in the past, having that Cazador naming contest years before they were able to come out with that unit if they ever do is one, totally screwing over their long time distribution lines and customers in Austrailia is another but no company is perfect and they all make mistakes.
Even the top minds at Coca Cola thought dumping their classic coke formula and come out with New Coke instead was a good idea at one time.
I like the type of products they make, enjoy using them when I pull them out and I wouldn't have bought two if I didn't.
Do I expect them to come out with a totally different and new kind of holy grail detector that will knock everyone's socks off...no, but I do think it would be great if they did.
Ultra modern uber-technology is not their thing and never has been but their old world throwback machines suit me fine when I get the urge to use them.
My only hope is that they manage to build enough, sell enough to stay in business for the foreseeable future in case I need to take advantage of their repair service one day.
For me that would be enough.

Well someday we will all catch wind of a new and exciting product from them. I do like the look of there new coil design, I have not used one yet but others say it preforms well... like most here we all love our tesoros and they find us great stuff just like other machines out there. I guess the lifetime warranty, very light weight and quality plastics and materials they use is a big part why so many people like there machines. It is a shame that they have no team spirit with there customers and I would love to see it and contribute to there brand if they did more....but oh well I guess it's one con out of many pro's. They must have something up there sleeve right ?
