What's happening at Tesoro?

Sven

Well-known member
Anything new and exciting coming out of the Tesoro Camp at Prescott?
Any news?
Or same-o, same-o?

The Cortés, Conquistador µMax, Eldorado, Euro Sabre, and Silver µMax were added in 2001, and the DeLeón and Tejón became part of our line of detectors in 2003. Our latest models, the Cibola and Vaquero, were introduced in 2004.

Hey Sven,
I think eventually here we might hear something from these guys now that A.C.
is on board over there. A.C. is one heck of a Treasure hunter and I'm sure has
some great input for Tesoro but only the Future will tell all!!! It's been pretty
HUSH,HUSH, there these days but something gotta be going on there but
they ain't saying a word yet...

The outlaw was released in 2014. Not on your list there.

I still say that a 'totally' new machines is way off the horizon if at all that is,maybe another make over of the popular older machines, hey just do not have the financial resources or 'indepth electronics' too produce a block buster new machine, and i am saying a brand new machine that has never been seen before.

Other new folks too the detecting seen can produce totally new models that folks want and even produce a 'totally' machine every year, but this does not happen with Tesoro, you can only sell a certain amount of popular machine like the Vaquero and Compadre, newbies coming on board to detecting either have a choice of detectors that folks want from other top manufactures or a boring glum machine.Tesoro machines work well but dont set the detecting world on fire design wise or in other forms of detecting technology what customers want.

The newest product of late is the 11x8 coil, which is nice, but i am thinking the hardest part for the design crew this year must be what colour can we paint the shaft and control box with new labels to keep us going for another 12 months on another re-launch.

I do hope they pull a rabbit out the hat quickly and amaze us all,but i dont think it will happen some how.

No engineers - no investment = no new detectors.

The cost of a modern detector design effort is probably in the low millions of $. I seriously doubt that they have that kind of money, and where would they find someone to do the software?

Sad, but without young talented digital electronics engineers and wise engineering management - plus the $$$ to pay for all that, a couple of former market leaders are im great damger of just disappearing.

Just a repackaged Bandido II like everyone knows.

Seems that people often want to pick and poke at Tesoro.
As stated above, their "old" machines still do work, and work pretty well. I'm all for a "new" machine with all the best old Tesoro features combined... I can't imagine that you guys with $1500+ display machines have any more fun or find anything better, or deeper than I can with my Vaquero and Tejon, and I'm swinging a 2.5# toy with a lifetime warranty. My coils probably cost less than yours and are equally well made.
If I wanted to watch a TV screen, I'd be staying home. Maybe I just don't know what I'm missing...but I am having a good time.
As long as Tesoro keeps selling quality analog machines that work, analog type people will be buying them. (Yes, I still have a huge vinyl record collection and ride the finest steel bicycles ever made..)

Has anyone heard that Tesoro's sales are way down, or have they been stable? If they're down, I'll step up and buy a couple more... What the heck ~ I only have six; I probably should anyway. ^_^

Tesoros are fun machines, I prefer analog to digital as a whole.
Would like to see some more friendly interaction between Tesoro and their customer fan base, makes you, the customer feel like your one of the family, not just another number in sales.
A quarterly newsletter down-loadable like Garrett with customer stories old and new, maybe Tesoro history stories would be a big asset. This all spawns customer satisfaction and loyalty to a brand and keeps Tesoro owners motivated and desire to go detecting with a Tesoro. I sort of left the Kingdom of Tesoro, as I feel like a royal servant watching the fat King sit on his throne, chowing, slobering down mounds of food and drink without a care about the kingdoms loyal peasants who keep the fat king in his glory. A friendly feast and festival now and then for the kingdoms people wouldn't hurt.

Was hoping Tesoro would have loosened up Allan Cannon's noose and let him does his friendly marketing....................................let him treasure speak.............

Well....to me it depends how you define "new".

I have a Fisher GoldBug Pro. Good machine, my F75 does circles around it for depth, features, discrimination, ground balancing.....

Then Fisher comes along and changes the software and paint and calls it a F19. They even called it "the best relic machine ever", still on their website.
Fisher F19 Ltd & F19 Ltd-P
New from Fisher®, the best relic machines ever!

To the best of my knowledge, the F19 isn't any deeper than the GoldBugPro. Oh, they tweaked the software and added some "features". The F75 and the T2 does circles around it. Blows it away....

I see Garrett has done about the same thing with their 200, 300, 400 detectors.

I think Woof once said, detectors are up against a wall. They can't go any deeper.

In summary, if a new detector is defined as a new paint job with some software tweaks to make different noises, well good luck to you. A new machine to me better be deeper than what I already have. A different beep or paint job doesn't impress me. My F75 upgrade made the machine a lot deeper and quieter, discrimination is almost as deep as all metal. That I bought.

If Tesoro wants to make a multitone machine, that I could get into. If Tesoro wants to make a waterproof Compadre me and the kids could play with in the creeks, that I could get into.

But I didn't run out and waste $800 to buy a F19 that isn't better to me than my GoldBugPro. And I refuse to do it on anything Tesoro does in the same manner.

fwiw

I have a Vac and added the 11x8 coil and love it. I also have a Mine lab Sov GT that I use on the beach. If you want a machine that does different things you do not have to buy a Tesoro. Most have different brands that they use. My Tesoro is great for where I hunt in parks. When and if Tesoro comes out with a upscale model it will cost a lot more. You will hear a lot complaints. If they do not sell well that may discontinue a popular model like Min lab did with the Sov Gt. Be careful for what you wish for.

Had a look at that and I have to agree; it would be nice if Tesoro told us all that they're happy to be in business, and appreciate their customers.

I am doing my part to keep 'em around though... Just ordered two new 5.75" coils (one each, 4 and 5 pin concentrics) and new lower poles for a couple of mine. ^_^

I'm obviously out of the loop----who's "A.C."????--------In any case--I sincerely hope Tesoro survives--wish only the best for them!

Another one who thinks they should be active with their customers here on social media. Besides the last meltdown rant from that Nathan last year, which if he worked for me, would have been fired on the spot for. We have not heard nothing about anything from them. Yeah I like the vaquero and bought the new coil. That will be my last purchase of a Tesoro product. With no word of this new detector, I just lost all interest in it. That is the worst thing you can do is not communicate with your customers and they do not seem to care about that. It shows lack of vision for their future. Announcing a new product before you even start developing it is absurd. That is the decisions coming from the top? Come on, basic common sense should have told them that was a bad idea. Yet they did it anyway? I do hope they stay in business. But with that kind of decision making, it is hard to see it without some kind of sensible leadership.

People who are waiting for Tesoro to do great things........ are dreamers. A.C. is a good guy.......but Tesoro is fighting for it's life trying to survive in a tough competative industry. They have limited talent and very limited cash........tough road ahead for Tesoro. But look on the positive side maybe First Texas will buy them out......bound to happen.

Breed a Tesoro Tejon with a Golden Umax and that would be a machine I'd buy! Tones on a Tejon would be outstanding! Maybe add multiple frequency selection as well. A guy can dream can't he?

Tone ID and/or visual TID and Notch...and two disc level !?? Seriously??

I think Tesoro has a detector for every need. And I do not think they have to reinvent the wheel.
May be a "Vintage" detector-line may help. Could be a bandido, the golden, sidewinder... etc.
Would be nice to get a new sidewinder.
