what water detector has the best audio?

On deeper targets. I have hearing loss and am looking to buy a different detector i am currently using a detector Pro wader and I'm sure I'm not
hearing those deep targets unless it's big Iron or a soda can.I was considering a Explorer II but read on a recent post that the audio was not as good as
earlier models.
I would consider any detector which has good audio even though I really wanted an Explorer II then eventually a PI unit.
Which is the loudest? or easiest to tell it's a deep target.

If you want a true waterproof unit, then I would say with you stating you have hearing loss, a CZ21 or used CZ20 if you can find one. It has volume boost and only 3 tones. The volume set at 5 or below will have deep targets sound softer/fainter. When set past 5, deep targets are just as loud as shallow ones and you can tell the depth via the pin point button since it has VCO pin point.

Not sure about the multiple tones on the Minelabs like the Excal or Sov GT. There may be some tones in a range where you can't hear them. They are however, fantastic water/beach units.

I know the Wader, when hitting a deep target, has a very faint 'click' or 'tick' sound and its not a loud beep like a shallow quarter.

If you want a water resistant machine, I say look for a used CZ6a or a machine where you can use quality headphones like Black Widows. I don't have any hearing loss ( yet ! ) but still use Black Widows on the beach since they don't let in any outside noise and the audio is super crisp on them....at least it is when using my 6a.

For a PI unit, it may be a tough one since a lot of deep/small targets on PI's are not really loud beeps but subtle changes in threshold that you may not hear. Then again, changes in threshold you may hear and it's only certain tones that you can't.

Aquasound is the loudest unit out there but, it's also crazy expensive. The cz-20,21's are nice and loud and don't miss much. Also an Excalibur in pinpoint mode if tuned properly is very deep and loud in shallow items. I don't care for pi thresholds myself
 
The Mr. Goldmaster custom headphones are the loudest headphones I have ever heard! But is their ability to amplify subtle tones that will turn your excalibur into the true sword pulled from the anvil!
 
If you live in MD, the Aquasound probably wouldn't be for you. It's custom built to order for Florida and other beaches with little to no mineralization. On high, the term used - crazy loud - does describe it well though. :surprised:

Just finished building and I'm testing right now a set of peltors that blows the doors off of anything out there, will be doing video of them in use and the building of them when I get back from vacation {Oc}...only problem so far are the shallow targets, soda cans a foot or less deep and you have to be aware of your scoop. The amp on the HP's is not water proof so I do have to be aware of this when in the water, so it limits the area I can hunt from dry sand to below the waist in the surf...Showed them to a couple hunters on the beach this week, Did a demo for them, both were amazed at the difference in the performance over there detectors ...One hunter called them HeadPhones on steroids....{ I like that! }...the Amps power is adjustable which would be good for anyone with hearing loss, and these headphones will work with any detector ..one thing, I'm not in the market to make or sell them, Just to share the info........joe
 
It has three lights. A red one for ferrous, green for coins and a yellow for jewerly etc. I watch those lights on mine and pretty much go by them as to dig or not to dig.
 
i have 30 to 40 percent hearing loss and i love my cz20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! crisp clear loud tones! audioboost boosts weak or deep targets so that they sound the same as a shallow target.
 
As mentioned, CZ's on audio boost come through loud and clear. On the beach I am now running my CZ6a at full audio boost and turn the volume down a little the headset adjustment. Since I started hunting this way during the middle of last summer, the old CZ has given me a new meaning to deep.

Without a separate audio adjust on the headphones for the CZ20, I don't run full boost, my ears don't take it so well since the headset on the CZ20 is pretty loud to start with.

Look like the CZ21 is the winner,definitly the loudest. But the Excal with the modified headphones might be the ticket. Buy I'm sure I
can't modify a new Excal due to voiding the warranty. I am in no rush and am not againt getting a used one but it has to be in like new condition.
I do have enough scape gold + a couple hundred to get a new one. deci
