what was your first Tesoro

Well my first real detector 6 years ago was a cibola....now I had an Axe 250 prior and found many good finds with that dector. However the cibola opened up a world of goodies lost in the dirt around old cellar holes, fields and old city parks. And since then I have had over 50 dirt digging machines. Yea I would buy try and sell them. But to this day after owning many tesoros I find the cibola my favorite with the vaquero second to that. Check out www.metaldetectamerica.com with some of my adventures. This past two years I haven't detected much because life gets busy....but man do I love it. Here is a video of some of my finds from days past.2010 METAL DETECTOR FINDS Tesoro Metal Detector …: http://youtu.be/dBOuU31TFWQ

So chime in and let's here what your first Tesoro was. Thanks and enjoy......

I would love to hear some stories when you had your ahhh ha moment when you fell on love with metal detecting folks

Hmmm for a long time, like since 1975 it was Garrett machines. My last Garret was an Ace 100. However last year around Christmas I was looking for another simple to use machine somehow found Tesoro. Bought a Compadre from Kellyco and have really enjoyed it. So this year decided to add yet another and just bought a Vaquero, knowing Kellyco it could show up at any moment. I prefer the sound based units rather than the screens or gauges. Right now Tesoro is the only game in town for performance machines of that type. There is a bunch more stuff in the ground around here, hopefully I'll be helping a lot more of it see the light of day.

In 1974 my dad brought home a $55 Compass. One day when he was at work I took it to an old home by the RR tracks. In about a half an hour I found a '46 Franklin half and many silver dimes and wheats.
That was my 'Aha' moment.

Compadre! I did a lot of research before buying and the price was right for my first detector to see if I would like detecting or not.

C&G Lynx early 80's
then a real Tesoro Cortes 2003 or there abouts

First Tesoro was a Shadow X2. Then a Tejon. Then I went thru many different detectors and am back to Tejon again :).

Had a Sidewinder u-max and sorry I ever sold it. Great little powerful machine.
I now have a Tejon and Eldo. micro-max which is my favorite Tesoro....
Like that beep and dig for a change now and then and will still get the GOODS!!!

My dad is an old gold miner. He would take us out mining when we were kids and I would do some panning and get board and go fishing. He had a Garrett ADS master hunter 2. Then he got a Gold master 2. I used both of them from time to time but never really got into in. As I got older I got more into the mining but still prefered to fish. When I moved to Fresno the kind of fishing I prefer was not really available. I dont know what gave me the idea but one day I decided I wanted to try detecting. I did a lot of research and decided I wanted a Vaquero. It was out of my budget, I went to the local mining shop and he had a Compadre on the shelf. I offered him $100 and he took it. The rest is history. I still have that Compadre but it is a little modified.

in 1992 I purchased a Tesoro Mayan at a Garage sale it was my first serious detector . It was a great detector and it found me a lot of great stuff . My present Tesoro is a Vaquero and I have on plans to get rid of or replace it with any new detectors . I use some other brands also but for fun digs where the targets are scarce and I'm going to dig everything it can't be beat .

Back around 1987 while looking around an Army Surplus store in Nevada I stumbled upon some metal detectors, gold pan's and Treasure Magazines and have never looked back:detecting: I went to a local dealer in North Las Vegas and explained that I wanted an all-purpose type of detector for prospecting and relic hunting and he sold me the original Tesoro Eldorado.

My first Tesoro was a metal box Golden Sabre back in the mid 80's. Since then I have owned 3 Compadres, a Bandido µmax, a Cibola, a Deleon, a Cortes, a Vaquero, a Tejon, and a Troy Shadow X2.
I enjoyed hunting with all the Tesoro's, but my favorites are the Vaquero,Tejon, and Troy Shadow X2.

My 1st Tesoro was a Silver Sabre and my other Tesor machine is a mint condition UK version of the Bandido, mainly used on roman and axon sites with a small coil as these usually have alot of trash on them, and also they bost work well with the 4'' coil when river detecting or on the Thames foreshore which is littered with rubbish.

Happy with just these 2 golden oldiies, would i buy another Tesor or a newer machine,i doubt it,they seem to be loosing alot of followers in recent years due i guess mainly to no new machines appearing.

My first was a silver sabre umax with a troy s-9 coil added to it...This was undoubtedly the best unit Tesoro I've owned so far.( I've owned 4 different models )..

My golden umax with the new tones is pretty darn good too !!

Cibola , and it was pretty good machine

My first was the Vaquero, ...Cibola, Tiger Shark, Sand Shark, and a Tejon. I foolishly sold them all chasing the perfect VDI machine! I have recently made a full circle back to Tesoro.

After reading post on this site I bought a Vaquero.
