What was your favorite " Beeps and Digs" pre foreign influence!:surrender:

Mine was the Wilson ATD! Came out around 1987 soon followed by the Relic and Coin series! ATD meant Analog to Digital. I met Ben Myers who did field tests for Western and Eastern Treasure in Centreville Virginia While Relic Hunting. My favorite Tesoro's where The Inca with the wide scan coil and the original Eldorado. These detectors would do a good job in mineralized ground. Gold Mountain produced a nice machine for mild soils. the 1650. The Fisher 1260x could hunt a saltwater beach but responded on mis-shapen iron as a good target when relic hunting. I think the 1266x is still a top classic detector. The Nautilus for Relic and Beach Hunting will still be at the top of the food chain. So many more. Two many to remember and list. Now let's hope World War 3 will not follow this post. Cheers!

Fisher 1266, Shadow X5 .....those were the two tops I liked. I felt connected to the ground with either of those units.

X5 may be the the best of all time!

Since there's no foreign influence in my house, my current favorite is my Eldorado (plastic). Just got a Bandido II microMAX, but not enough time on it yet for an assessment.
Have a bunch of Tesoros; really like the (newest) Eldorado.

Mine was possibly the Silver Sabre11 and the Laser B3 UK version of the Bandido, alot of folks have mentioned the X5,must admit i had a brand new X5 about 10 years ago, used it for about 15 months with 100s of hours on the clock and must admit in my opinion was the worst machine that i have owned and also the only one that i have sold, absolutely hated it but was lucky that i sold it with the smallest of loss ever,so pleased with getting away lightly.

My favorite is the Tesoro Golden uMax. A little hard to understand the notching function but worked great when you set it just right. I'll admit it didn't eliminate all tabs, but it was always fun to go behind others and pull nickels where they had swung.

Tesoro Inca. Used it for many years and found many great finds. Also used the Tesoro Mayan for quite awhile.

That detector was an amazing be though it ugly machine

I still remember finding a New York button 13" deep in Reams Station and saw a guy in Petersburg with a pocket full of Minnie balls he had just dug on a confederate trench that had been pounded for 20 or more years.

Homesite hunters found a truckload of relics and coins in the iron.

I wish Paul would have kept the old design, put some quality pots in it and made a 10" coil to cover open woods.

When he stopped to make the Northstar the new ones never measured up to 50% of the relic and coin IMHO

The R&C 2-4 were not as good either, he was just blowing smoke with a sales pitch, LOL

Well, i enjoyed my old vikings detectors before the US foreigners came in with their 'Whites' detectors lol

Well said!::ukflag:

I dont really have one as i dont really use many beep and digs, ive always been more of a fan of digital machines but the closest machine i guess i ever had to a been and dig was a CZ-3D was a great machine.

Im really liking the 1265x and think it's on par with depth of the vaquero....the 1265x I have may even bee a tad deeper. I do have a love for the cibola, that detector found me a ton of coins,Relics and buttons. The cibola always ran very smooth and good depth and separation.

Tesoro Eldorado. Wasn't the deepest but, didn't miss much in its range.

George, you should remember the Double Eagle. That was my favorite only because it found me so many nice relics

Lol looks like the most basic metal detector ever.

It was. But seriously, I did find more relics with that machine. The only nob at that time which had any use was the one that cut it on and controlled the volume. Since the discrimination technology came about good finds have decreased,, holes dug have decreased, trash has certainly decreased. But being able to call the wife on a cell phone from the car is sure a lot more convenient than trying to find a dime and a pay phone. :beers:
