What type detecting do you like best ...........

Elton

New member
I'm almost a 100% coin hunter. I know a guy who only gold detects and travels to the spots where he might find it..

What do you like ???

Coin hunting
Relic hunting
Water detecting
jewelry shooting
Gold prospecting

Mixed detecting .................. coins, relics etc........

Me too....

Elton,I'm a coin hunter most of the time, but the small amount of time that I've made an effort to search for jewelry hunting have notice it usually pays off.Probably 90 percent of my time hunting coins, and 10 percent on jewelry.HH Ron

Clad and jewelry, totlots, schoolyards and sportsfields is my favorite on account of the immediate spendable reward, easy, shallow and ample targets...most productive monetarily (gold) is beach and water, but its a real workout and tough! Miles and miles of unproductive effort with few pings..then all of a sudden, BAM! Not as enjoyable or easy as the inland hunting, but its here and whats a guy to do? I hope these two subsets have built up some experience if I ever get a chance to hunt silver coins or relics I'll know what I'm doing, or at least be able to figure it out in short order..
Mud.

its all good.... really enjoy the farm hunting due to the colonial possibilities.... also enjoy fresh and saltwater hunting in the water... the more peacefull and remote the area, all the better... nothing like colonial coins and gold jewelry.. I haven't gotten tired of either yet...

I prefer coins and jewelry. I occasionally find a relic that strikes my fancy Parks, playgrounds, tot lots, Old homes, Even unpaved places where people park. The beach at any time of the year. Almost anywhere I can obtain permission.

I spend most of my time looking for those coins......but searching old areas where relics might be found is exciting too. I just really love finding those "old" things.....whatever they may be. The feeling I get when I dig up something that has been buried in time for 30...50....75....100 years is like a child at Christmas. To know that I am the first person to touch that piece of metal (whatever it is) since it was dropped or lost is one of the things I love about this hobby:detecting:

Coinshooter here...100% Dug so many thousands of coins now over the years that these last few years I've been trying to focus on old silver........ I give my toys, jewelry, relics, etc. away.......

I like all types of metal detecting and have had success at all types, my favorite was my 6 summers from 2003-2009 in alaska swinging a whites mxt & garrett infinium and working a 3" dredge=22 oz's of nuggets off of a 200 acre claim, now I am back in North Carolina were I spend most of my detecting time hunting civil war relics and salt water beach detecting where I now swing a great Etrac with much success also.

I love old stuff. i don't care what it is. cowboy spurs, bullets, buttons, old watches, remains of canning jar lids etc. Of course old iron isn't much, but i have found a couple old ax-heads that i relish very much.

Loved every type I've tried, but really like the feeling of recovering items that probably would not see the light of day but for my effort. Every time it works I get a thrill. I've been enjoying beach hunting partly because I grew up on the beach and have not had much time there in the last 50 years.

I can only wish I lived near a beach where I could detect but then I could wish my life away. I am a 98 % coin shooter and the places I detect usually only find clad coins. But I would rather be finding new clad in tot lots or local parks than spend the whole day detecting for some old relic and finding nothing.

I have only gone Relic hunting, and I love it. However, water detecting seems like it would be TONS of fun!

Mostly a jewelry hunter to this point but I still manage to find some old coins and relics in my travels which is always a thrill.
I still plan on becoming a more rounded detectorist, however, so a new machine and some other options for site selection next season is the plan.

I mostly coin and jewelry hunt. What ever comes out of the ground and don't bit I like it...I just enjoy being out and having a good time... KEN

Relic hunter all the way. There is nothing like finding a bullet, buckle, spur, etc that belonged to a soldier that fought in this great country. Its kinda of a way for me to tell those soldier they are not forgotten

I'm a coin and jewelry detectorist. Mostly coins. I enjoy finding anything coins, jewelry, hot wheels, tokens, marbles, burried copper pipe, relics. The best parts of detecting are the friends you make, being out in the sun and not knowing whats under your coil until you dig it. Life is an adventure and detecting is one of those adventures.
