What to tell her?

Mirco

New member
Maybe this question does not belong here, so I hope the mod moves it.
Here is the situation. Three months ago I bought myself expensive MXT and Surf PI Pro. So far she does not know, but sooner or later she will find out. What to tell her then? What do you guys say in situations like this? I am trying to be prepared! Ciao!

Sounds like you screwed yourself in the long run, No matter what:poke::nono:
Better get out there and find some nice jewelry for her:pulltab:
Still gonna be tough to weasel out of that one
You keep the SE, and give her the Whites, that should help:nopity:

Throw the detectors in your car. Then stop by a garage sale and buy a tool or maybe a toaster. Then come home telling her you bought the tool, toaster and two detectors for $100. Tell her that saved $1500! You see there is no problem that can't be solved here on the forum. :beers:

I just got myself a Prizm 4 for junk areas and put my lovely little wife's name on the warranty card. When I showed her the card she grinned back with a sort of "yeah right".
Good excuse though!

You'll be so guilt ridden, you'll never enjoy the hobby.A fugitive looking over your shoulder always on the run.

Well get out there and find a nice big ole hinker of a ring. Will it cure the problem, no, but it will help, Beale.

:rofl:Its not so bad being single...

Your in some DO-DO. You can lie like crazy and never like yourself anymore or you can tell the truth and she will never like you anymore. You could blame it on the devil?? Don't think so. Let us know what you decide. We will be awaiting your decision.. But your still in big DO-DO....Jer

In this situation, I believe "khouse" had the solution. If you can pull it off, there will be enough doubt and confusion, that'll probably work THIS TIME. I'd say next time, have an attorney lined up!

Mirco I have it!!!! You, must do the honorable thing!..... Run away and join the circus....Jer

Some though choices here.First you must decide which detector you want to keep the land or water unit. You overspent and need to fix a bad situation.Explain to your wife you would like to get a new metal detector and your going to shop around for a good unit this gives you time to sell one of the detectors.By the way used metal detectors sell easy place an ad on this forum( I screwed up sale). Most wives will say go a head and buy a metal detector.Very important, don't tell her know you bought a metal detector until you have the cash from the other sale.Example you explain to your wife that you found a demo model and you took out extra cash from the bank or credit card to give her so she can buy her something nice for being such a wonderful wife. You finish up by taking her to a nice restaurant that has good food and wine. Now you can enjoy the hobby. If you're on a tight budget you may won't to forget giving your wife the extra money from the sale and replace the money you spent from the extra metal detector How to explain the bill,I bought only one metal detector the dealer gave me 30 days to try out the detectors and there was a misunderstanding and charged me for both metal detectors. This is for when you want to shift the blame.

You don't have to tell her anything. Be a man and stand up for yourself. Marriages and partnerships may be 50/50 but each person is still an individual and entitled to purchase what they want as long as they don't use the others money to do so. She's not your mother and you don't need her permission. I'm sure she buys things without asking you and you don't go bananas about it. Enjoy those machines and have fun finding treasure.

i get mad when my hubby brings home a new movie when we cant afford it. if you can afford the MDs without comprimising the budget she shouldnt be too mad. give her one and tell her " I thought maybe this is something you would like to join me in." or something to that effect.then let her pick which one she wants. this will show her you want to spend " quality " time with her outside of the house. Tell her she can pick where you guys go first time out. and she can keep whatever she finds. try to make it sound like you did this for the both of you. if shes not the type to be willing to play in the dirt...take her out shopping. good luck

Bite the bullet and tell her immediately. You will only compound a already bad situation by putting it off and even worse, by lieing. You brought this on yourself if you and your wife are accustomed to discussing purchases of this size before making them. Trust is pretty darn important in a marriage and once lost can take a good long time to get it back. MHO, anyway. Good luck!:surrender: HH jim tn

Well, how does she normally react when you buy things.
If you guys have a money problem right now (who doesn't)
then maybe she will be a tad bit upset about your buying TWO machines.
One is bad enough if you can't afford it but two could be grounds for a
devorce!

I think you already know what to expect from her. Now its just a matter
of mustering up the courage.........but before you tell her, hide the guns and all the
knives!

Keep the MXT and return the SUrf Pro. Did you buy it from a local dealer? Maybe you can tell them you have buyers remorse and can't really afford the second MD.
Do it now though before time runs out.
