what to do?

thanks, khouse, i will prevail !!!
here are a couple of pics of things that i have encountered thus far

Once you get the top cleared start detecting. If you can't get a machine under there you might start probing the ground with a long screw driver. Don't forget to look on top of the sill just above the foundation. Also I would dig under any large rock that may look out of place. There's stuff there!

yeah!..me too!. great.story, and if i was a bettin; man,i would say he was hiding something there, and could very well be some neat coins!

(h.h!)
j.t.

Those letters had to be special to be under there. It just makes sense that there is other special things hidden. When everything else fails that leaves sifting.

He has several videos on youtube. Make sure you watch them all.

thats cool video khouse, you guys are getting me all pyscho-ed up,this thing could go either way i know this, but i am still hoping to find something other than mice droppings ha ha
i've got my work cut out for me thats for sure,i've got to have this thing all buttoned up by days end tomorrow, plywood back down and all cleaned up
i'm thinkin i'll use screws on the plywood just in case i get another chance
khouse there is a large rock under there, its just large eough so that it can't be moved,i'll check it out!

What ever is under the rock - I'll split it with you. Some weird shaped mouse droppings can bring thousands of dollars on ebay. See if you can find three that look like Moe, Larry and Curly.

Short on time! Put material into 5 gallon buckets.Put the floor back, then you can go through it at home.Or back up and fill the truck, who's going to know there isn't any dirt under the house.
GOOD LUCK!

thanks jog
ha ha thats some funny stuff
khose spelling erros dont coont in detecting, there were only bugs to watch under the rock
full basement aint a bad way to go,i was just on my hands and knees detecting for hours
that was a first for me,tough way to detect,i was rolling the cob webs up like cotton candy

well for a house that was built in 1892 there really weren't very many good targets
i searched every square inch of dirt under there and it was the usual plenty of nails and then some
i moved every obstacle,i even moved a few loose stone out of the wall that were suspisciuos looking
and so much for gramps cache of coins, maybe he was just fixing pipes ha ha ha!
well at least that is behind me know, and reguardless of how hard a hunt it was i still had a good time
short on finds and not a coin to boot, hard to believe in such a confined area no coins fell out of pockets
i guess i'll just chalk this one up to an experience, kinda spooky under there all alone ha ha
i'm working on the pics,i managed to get two hunt photos ,even taking pics under there was a pain in the neck,
so i just brought the camera top side before something happened to it
all in all it was a fun hunt just short on finds

I for one am very proud of you and your efforts! It's this type of determination that will reward you many times over in the future. This is a hunt you'll never forget. You will soon find your treasure chest! Good hunting to you!

well here the net, pretty lame, more marbles, pendant, brooch or pin,oh well there was only one way to find out

Try around the house outside, might be buried next to the foundation or porch or under porch. The old timers think different than youngins. Some of us old guys don't trust too many people.

thanks khouse i appreciate those kind words

thanks waltship i'll look into that, there is a long porch but im sure it's blocked off also, guess i'll fuel up the chain saw!

oh by the way tried cleanig the pendant and brooch, the pendant was gold plated some still there and no markings on it what so ever, and the brooch is way beyond
cleaning and the stones are just washing right out of it,i doubt they are real

That padlock and handle makes me wonder if there wasn't something locked up under there.Maybe he moved it knowing that you new about it.Definitely check around the house and under the porch. Is there an attic?

the padlock made me do some thinking when i found it,i searched the imediate area pretty extensively,i even put down the detector
after i searched and checked out the stone wall by hand and eye, awfully strange that a lock would be down there,it does make me wander if i had missed something, but i did take my time and was thorough,i guess the only way i'd of missed something is if it were beyond the depth of my detector, and it still has me thinking.

nope no attic 2 1/2 story home with the 1/2 story being in the roof section so there are collar ties with very little space above them with no access.

I guess the trap door may have been locked at one time. And the handle could have come from the trap door.If you do like me, that stuff will be running around in your head for a while. I would have many sleepless nights.Good luck! JOG.
