WHAT?!?!?!?!?!:surprised:

Yeah flash...it's an "s" on the 1896 half. It is in such great condition (I'm not a coin grader, but I'd say it's at least "fine"), they are worth hundreds of dollars. I really need to find a good grading company...

congrats on your very cool finds.
now send your story in and win your pro-pointer and send me the silver so i can look at them all night and you can get some sleep.

Well, the guys at Garrett wanted better pics, so that's a good sign! The pictures turned out really well. I'd like to post them here, but I'm not sure how to get it so they will upload small, but get bigger when clicked on. Also my main computer crashed last night, so I'm on a backup that is EXTREMELY slow. If somebody knows how to post them the right was I'd appreciate it.

I'm really impressed with your finds! A HUGE Congratulations on uncovering a silver combination like that. Someone lost a "huge" amount of money for those days!

I use Faststone Photo Resizer. Probably will have to look it up online. But you download it online, real easy to use and free!

WTG!!! Three great coins in one hole....It don't get any better than that..!!

I got permission to search this old burned out house and the guy who told me I could metal detect there said his family found a lot of old coins just laying on the ground after the fire. But, it's metal trash everywhere and I think I will order a sniper coil for my 2500 before I tackle this project. Hope I do as well with my metal detecting as you did.

You never know what you're going to dig when you get a signal. It could be a rusted piece of tin or a gold coin, ring or watch. It makes my (inner child), flash back to reading the book Treasure Island and then seeing it at the theatre. I wonder if the next tone will reveal buried Spanish Treasure?? Sadly, it's my worn out body that keeps me from detecting very much this year. The (inner child) is fine and dandy, but this old body has got Snap-Dragging Disease.
"Half of me is Snapped and the other half is Dragging." Lol.

I believe someone on this forum is going to find a significant cache and I sure would be happy if it was me. I just got that gut feeling. There's been some great finds posted this year, but I believe somebody is going to find something historical and valuable at the same time. Best of luck to all of you and happy hunting.

It's deer season and unsafe to venture out on your own property without wearing hunter orange vest and hat. There are people out in the woods, trespassing on private property, with loaded firearms who should not even have driver's license, much less firearms.

Yeah Fongu, I was pretty amazed to see those three beautiful coins pop out of that hole! The first snow melted, so last weekend I went back to that site but the best coin I found was a 1930 D wheat penny. Speaking of caches, I am going to do some research this winter so that next spring I can maybe find a cache...I can't even imagine how awesome that would be! I hope you have good luck hunting your burned house site!

I haven't heard back from Garrett regarding their Pro-Pointer contest, I guess they probably get a lot of amazing finds to sift through to find a winner.

It seems this thread has been resurrected...I can't resist posting the high resolution pics that I sent to Garrett for the contest. Here they are (I posted them on the "metal detecting forum" a while ago, sorry for re-posting, but it's sorta like pulling out pictures of your kids to brag about how they're the cutest in the world lol!)
