What machine is best in heavy trash using small coil?

My ground is at least medium mineralized, probably a bit worse though. I'm looking for accurate ID, very quick recovery speed and maybe some tones as well. I'm looking at White's MXT Pro but can't help but wonder about First Texas products too. Also, I'd prefer a machine that can be outfitted with an inline probe but it's not mandatory. Will be using a small coil in heavy trash hunting for gold/silver jewelry......

You don't mention what kind of trash.....is it heavy iron you are searching in or parks etc where there is a lot of aluminium? If it is heavy iron contamination nothing can beat an xp goldmax power, these machines were designed to find tiny hammered silver and gold coins on the iron infested ancient sites in europe.I've used an MXT with the sef 6x8 coil and this combination is very good in trashy areas and capable of finding small silver and gold, as is the whites m6 with the same coil.I also owned the teknetics t2 which again is great in trashy areas and from what I have read, the fisher f75 is also good in trashy areas.
If you are searching heavily contaminated ground,i would concentrate on getting the most suitable detector and not worry if it will accept an inline probe or not.Good luck with your choice.

The F70/75 with the little 6" elliptical is pretty hard to beat, but it is not what I would call deep. Also the Tesoro's are pretty good. I am sure there are others but I like to recommend what I know and have used.

You pretty much summed up the F70...tones galore, inline probes available, small coils, accurate and fast...I hunt the trash with mine just as you are fixin to do...love hunting the trash with this thing!

Lots of good posts on these regards up on the Fseries thread.

The AT-Pro/Gold are great in trashy spots, but does not have in-line probe set-ups. Good luck on what you choose. GS

The Teknetics Omega with a 5" DD coil is one of the best for heavy trash I have used. It gets very nice depth with that small coil, has a rapid target response, multi tones and very accurate tid. Also, the Garrett A T Pro with the 5x8 DD is right there with the Omega. HH jim tn

IMHO,

Etrac in TTF in heavy iron (I use 4.5x7 Excelerator)
M6 in modern trash (I use 4x6 Eclipse). Found more gold with M6 than all my other machines combined.

Consider the White's DFX with the White's 4X6 DD Shooter coil. The DFX accepts an in-line probe and can be adjusted and tweaked many ways for your particular site conditions. This set up works very well for me. GL and HH. Matt

I use the Minelab X-Terra 705 with the Coiltek 6" low frequency Digger coil.
It's a double D coil which helps in separating good targets from bad ones. It's really hot on silver and copper.
Good luck...

MXT Pro is a great choice or the M6 with the Eclipse 5.3 or if you want a bit smaller then use a 5" round DD Excelerator coil. If its rusty nails and rusted tin etc like you find in ghost towns or old homestead sites then prob the best machine ever made for really trashy nasty areas would be the ol' Whites Classic series ( Classic ID (IDX) they are a 2 filter fast recovery very slow sweep machine with the Blue max 350 snooper coil.

Another vote for the White's IDX, IDX Pro.

Well, I pretty gave up on trying to ID jewelry, the stuff is all over the place! It falls more into the trash zones then anywhere else. So, for my planned jewelry hunts I decided to look around for what detectors are hot on jewelry, and smaller gold items.
For this job I figured on digging more trash than I would if I was just coin shooting. So, my plan is to try a Beep & Dig that's known to hit really good on gold,
Hunt deep, (even with a small coil)

Now, Its sad to say but as of yet I've not been able to hunt very much but that's still on my bucket list.
Anyway, going for jewelry I opted for a Tesoro Tejon.
I plan on keeping a good metered machine on hand as well. Some early test wit the Tejon is given us (my brother an I) the idea that the Tejon is as deep with the little coil as it is with the stock 8"x 9"

I found it very hard to watch a meter and stick with digging every decent signal above small iron, and then most metered machines are running at two low of a frequency for small gold, higher frequency has a better liken for Gold. Plus for small gold you need a detector that has a lot of manageable gain, the Tejon has a gain of like 1,000,000 X (yea, million), but its seems to be a real stable unit.

So, when I get the chance to hunt an area that should be a good jewelry hole, I'm planning on using the Tejon, and in doing so, I've changed my thinking when doing so, things like,
Tabs,
ball of foils, (these do sound bad)
tiny bits of copper,
lead 22 bullets,
are not JUNK targets! if I can get those and move around through the small iron then I'm on task for finding gold jewelry, silver falls in the upper range so that's not a problem.

That's my idea but I know others have theirs as well.

Thanks to all who replied, it's appreciated and I'm still trying to sort out all the suggestions. To Nauti Neil, I'd be working the old parks and in areas where there would be very dense modern trash. However, it seems even in clean areas there's an abundance of bits and pieces of old rusted iron...........Roy

This has been a good thread...made me think about your main question in relation to all the posts I've read on here from the hunters that hunt Jewelry in trashy modern parks...Technologically speaking, I will say a fast recovery and lots of tones makes for the perfect machine...but that is not necessarily the only factor for repeatable and consistent success...seems a dedicated FOCUS on hunting jewelry is, no matter what machine being used....Seems the Jewelry hunters have this trait in common...also, they can rip through a totlot, hunt parking lot edges, and generally enjoy being in the modern trash which would drive some other folks insane.
Theres some powerful jewelry hunters that post, and they are all using different machines, they have learned to use what they have very well, and get very fast on target retrieval..

The fisher 1266 was one of the best machines for newer trash ,thang is awesome with just the 8 " coil.I thought the discrimination for iron on the mxt sucks.I would look at the minlab xterra 505 or 705.

My Cibola does well in trash with the 5.75 coil

Hi,
If you

That's the most sensible post i've seen for ages regarding vdi and tone.I've said this on many times, screens and tones are there to help you MISS good targets if you rely on them too much.Unfortunately,a lot of detectorists still hold on to the hope that their latest all dancing piece of technology is giving them accurate info regarding to what is in the ground.Yes,it can be more accurate on larger coins etc where the target machine will recieve a well defined signal, but as Skookum says, when you get in amongst the aluminium,if you ignore everything that is'nt easily identifiable as a good target, then you will miss some jewellry......that is the reality.
