What kind of detectors are you all swinging? Satisfied?

My first was the Whites IDX and I still have it.
The Fisher is a Coinstrike that I use mostly for relic hunting.
Brian, my 12 year old, has a Garrett Ace 250. An amazing little detector for the price.

DFX is a great detector. Found alot with it. The SE is going to be alittle better. It is newer and has newer tech. in it. That's why I bought the SE. I Think  :D: the Minelab is better at this time but that's my thinking at this time.

Your GTAx 1000 PM (Power Master) is even newer than the 1000 Ultra that I had. I can't remember what difference there was between the two but I know the PM was a more powerful detector than the 1000 and the 1000 Ultra. The PM was probably considered 3rd generation upgrade and hence better than the other two it replaced.

As far as the difference between the 1000 Ultra I had and the GTAx 1250. I don't recall much of a difference. One major one was that the coils from the 1000 would not work on the 1250 - different pin configuration. Side by side one wouldn't notice much of a difference. I think the 1250 had a few more notches than the 1000 making it more selective - or - deselective if you wanted notch something in or out.

I think the PM (back to yours compared to the Ultra) had a longer battery life than the Ultra. Battery life between the Ultra and the 1250 - I'd have to say the 1250 lasted longer. Both came with the standard round coil (8 inch) and I had spent the extra money for the 1250 to go with the PRO style enlongated (don't remember maybe 12x9) so it not only went deeper than the standard 8 inch coil but also gave a wider sweep area and also was better in trashy areas by working it slowly to detect in between the trash (it was like the double D coils on pattern). Pinpointing with the PRO coil was not easy at first but I learned a trick with it and then I found the target easily every time.

Weight was about the same between units. Of course the better part of the 1250 over the 1000 is the newer technology between the time the 1000 was created and when they produced the 1250. So if I could I would get another 1250 but at this point it makes no sense for me to 'back pedal'. The ACE 250 is a good machine - again lacking the number of notches the 1250 had so notching out one item you might lose more than that item where the 1250 with the greater range would notch out one item and you lose only that one item if that makes sense to you.

The coil for the 1250 is the elliptical like the 250 but the 250's coil is smaller so to be more comparable one would have to upgrade to the loarger PRO coil for the 250 so they would be working on a more fair playing field. With a new larger PRO coil I think the 250 could outshine the 1250 in depth. Again for me I can't see paying more upgrading the 250 at this point.

So hope that answers your question(s). I know I rambled but figured it would give you a better feel for which is better than what when comparing these Garrett machines. Again all this is just my subjective opinion.

my first detector was a Bounty Hunter (only cuz if I bought 3 at $60 each I could become a detector dealer for the National Treasure Hunters League). Once I had dealer status I saved big bucks when I bought my Garrett Master Hunter BFO and all the coils, bag and other accessories - while I was in England to enjoy the whole thing. Also sold detectors to both American Air Force personnel and 'blokes' in the local area. I was in England from 1973-1976.
I sold that after I came back to the USA. Since I have had the Garrett American S-2 and the American S-3, had a Whites Coin Classic II for awhile, had a GTA 1000 Ultra, then a GTA 350 for a short time, and then the GTAx 1250 - all are gone now but I still have a Garrett ACE 250. Of them all - I miss my first love the Master Hunter BFO and the more recent GTAx 1250. The ACE 250 did make a hit on a 9 inch target that by buddy had found with my former 1250 - turned out to be a buckshot ball.

I did have a Fisher 1280x water detector but sold it. It has been replaced with a Tesoro Stingray water detector. So can't say I am the 100% Garrett guy I used to be.

Glad to see you post here. I had a Whites 6000 Di Pro SL and loved it! If I ever find a great deal I will pick up a 6000 XL. Hope to see more of ya here! God bless!

Good evening ,Pete, thank you very much, I appreiciate you very much spending your time for my answer. There really is no substitute for experience, you not only have knowledge, but also wisdom. Your report has been consistant with others, probably not practical to upgrade. I'll be content with such things as I have. thank you again, Pete, I also like your favorite verse.

places you have hunted before check again and again. Even when you think they are hunted out there is usually more there. Different things can happen to make those coins come to your pouch. Spring thaw could push up some that were further down and you couldn't detect em before you can now. You might try detecting from different angles. Not the same path as you did on other hunts. Try a vatiation of 45 degree angle (going kitty corner instead of in the same straight path you took the last time. Sometimes you find something you missed by changing your angle of attack. Sometimes maybe the machine wasn't properly tuned and you got less depth before and this time it is right on so you find more because it is sending signals deeper. Maybe it is newer batteries and before you had older batteries in the machine on previous hunts. Maybe because of having more practice you and the machine are getting tuned to each other and you have more confidence and your hearing of signals has improved. Sometimes it is just an act of God's blessing you with something special and you know He is with you. Every find I get God gets a Thank You for the gift. Whatever it is that happens or Whoever brings the coins and stuff up and you now find it, always share your finds and give praise to God. And share them here so we can give ya a pat on the back for your cool finds.

Whites Detectors so don't know if any other detector would be better! Because of my health and age now, I don't get out detecting very much but when I do I use my White Spectrum XLT...Hip Mount...and like it as I've found many coins, some rings and various things since purchasing it in 1994. Before than I had two others....One being a 1983 6000 DI Series 3...I like it also but wasn't a hip mount and was more difficult to use as a hip mount. My arm tires too easily from the heavy, hand-held ones!

God Bless & Good Luck in your finding coins and etc! HAPPY HUNTING!!
