What Izzit?

Dug this item recently in a cornfield in Indiana where an 1800's house once stood. It's brass, 2.5 inches tall, 2 inches wide, weighs 1.3 ounces and has a green patina. Any suggestions as to what it is?

How thick? No idea but being brass makes me think interior item???

Thank you for your suggestions - I think either one of those could be right. The thickness of the metal on the downward posts is only about dime thickness. The back of those posts is concave so it make the item sit up above flat surface approximately 3/16". The oval part on top is approximately 1/4" thick.
